Daniel Wales and Charles Hague-Jones preview Bristol City vs. Blackburn Rovers.
Transcript
00:00Dan, looking at Bristol City and a few tough games coming up, they are back at home against
00:07Blackburn Rovers. Obviously, another chance to really get behind them as home fans. They've
00:14had a different form really throughout the season. I mean, you obviously mentioned a
00:18number of times the inconsistency throughout this Bristol City side. I mean, if you look
00:23on reflection of that inconsistency, they are quite lucky to be ninth and ravaging around
00:29the sort of outside of the play-off places. But then again, it could be a sort of season
00:34where Bristol City fans look back and think, what if? Because if they did get that consistency
00:39right at times, they could easily be in that play-off positions. Blackburn, obviously a
00:47big game near the top of the table. They're really looking after points. They've just
00:51sort of fallen short of the likes of Sunderland Burnley. That sort of gap has certainly increased
00:56over the last sort of month or so. How do you see them going into this game? Obviously
01:00at Ashton Gate, another chance for a big, big three points in the Championship. And
01:07they can really state their claim to be one of those top sort of 10, top eight sides come
01:12the end of the season.
01:13Yeah, Bristol City, it's a tough game no matter which way you look at it. Blackburn have been
01:17great this season in every department. They've taken some really good points, both at Ewood
01:23Park and away from home as well. So yeah, it's a hard one to call, to be honest, because
01:30Bristol City, depending on how they do against Sheffield Wednesday in midweek, will sort
01:36of set them up for going into this game. And if they don't win that, then you'd fear for
01:40them, to be brutally honest. Blackburn certainly carry a lot of threat going forward. They're
01:49well drilled, they're cohesive in attack as well. And they can make even the sort of
01:54best defences look relatively ordinary at the moment. So all credit to them for their
01:59campaign so far. Bristol City will certainly have to be at their best if they want to win.
02:04And most importantly, as you say, they'll just have to take their chances. That's the
02:07most important thing. Yes, they'll create them. Blackburn probably won't give them too
02:11many, but they will create some. It just comes down to those individuals taking them at the
02:15same time. And I know we seem to say this an awful lot about Bristol City, but that
02:18is the main talking point. There's no two ways of looking about it. They're a very good
02:24side, Bristol City, who just don't capitalise on everything that they create. And it must
02:29be so frustrating for their supporters, for Liam Manning, for their coaches, even the
02:32players themselves, because they know that they're doing all right, but they're just
02:36not taking the chances when they come to them. I'm not sure what else can really be done,
02:40to be honest. I think, is it a confidence thing? Is it just a quality thing? Is it just
02:45a case of, yes, they can understand the way the team is set up, but when they're faced
02:49with three sticks and a net in front of them, they just fall to pieces a little bit, to
02:54be honest. So apart from that, there's not a lot that can be said, but it will be, of
02:58course, a very tough game.
