JP and BMitch discuss the suspect calls by the referee crew in Sunday's NFC Championship game.
Transcript
00:00I think the call, I mean, there was a bunch of calls I hated yesterday.
00:04I don't know how on the the way the end of that the the tush push situation with
00:11Lou Vu and for him to threaten the to threaten the
00:17palpably unfair act and to give Lou Vu we're going to award a touchdown.
00:22The NFL has created this problem with half the distance.
00:26Um the tush push exacerbates the problem because it's
00:30you can argue the the legality of it. I don't know
00:34but to just say over that rule the palpably unfair act
00:39is supposed to only exist if like a fan runs in from the crowd and tackles a
00:44dude. Yeah. Like it's supposed to be something
00:46like a comet strikes the middle of the field. It's not supposed to be
00:50you can say whatever you want about Frankie trying to jump the line of
00:53scrimmage. He's trying to make a football play.
00:55He's trying to time it. He's trying to time which he had done
00:58twice in that game already. Yeah. He did it on a huge third down. Yeah.
01:02In the third quarter but to force a punt when he
01:06he hit Saquon and knocked him out of field goal range like he had timed
01:10snaps in this game. He was trying to do it again. He was just purposely trying to jump
01:14offside. He was purposely trying to time it and they were trying to they were
01:17trying to go hard count. I would love if the league can really
01:21explain what that rule really is because if if anybody else has said
01:25it but Sean Hockley maybe I'll believe it.
01:27So the rule exists. There there's a rule a palpably unfair act when when
01:32something is is that unfair and rest can avoid. Like you know when it should have
01:35been used when Mike Tomlin tripped that dude
01:38returning a kickoff. He never touched it. Sure. That should have happened then. He never
01:42touched it bro. I know people don't know but he never
01:45touched it. That you're nuts. Which if you go look at the play he never
01:47touched him which got him slowed up because he saw him
01:50but he never touched it. The worst call though to me
01:53um I I just I think it was still in a consequential portion of the game
02:00and I think it really swung a important drive
02:04was the Sam are still uh late hit on the sideline. If you watch
02:10that Saquon turns his shoulders like he's
02:13about to square up and try to take him on and keep going to
02:17Mikey is inbounds. Mikey's inbounds. Saquon's not.
02:21Dude his. We had this conversation yesterday. I hated that call.
02:24That's a bang bang play in the moment that completely swings that game.
02:28It's a judgment call that did not have to be made
02:32and Saquon turns his shoulders like he's gonna go. He turned his shoulders but
02:35what's he supposed to do? He turned his shoulders and he went out.
02:37Mikey was inbounds. Saquon was out. So I I mean that play right there I had no
02:41issue with it. I think it's more because the running
02:43backs normally don't get that that type of uh protection
02:46because the quarterbacks always get that but Saquon was clearly out of bounds.
02:50He had one foot out of bounds but the other wasn't. I just don't see how that
02:53was clear and obvious. Like to call that play right there just
02:56seemed. Alright now I'm watching this Jacoby Jones.
03:00You're telling me Tomlin never actually touched him? He never touched him.
03:03Jacoby slowed up but he never touched him.
03:06Dude now. Either way they should have called that. That's unbelievable.
03:10Wait he intentionally stepped out on the field. Let me say this. When people keep
03:14like so if that's what they're talking is don't go with that rule.
03:17If you keep running pick routes and they run them all the time. Receivers
03:21running every play. Can you can you tell them if you keep
03:24running the pick while I'm giving the ball to the defense?
03:28The fact that offense gets everything its way in football
03:31is very troubling to me. And I'm an offensive player. Right. Offensive guy.
03:36But you cannot allow you can't have a defense out there trying to play ball
03:40when everything goes against them. My wife was all fired up. Did you see the
03:46text I posted from her last night? She was mad man.
03:52Very very very upset with the calls.
