00:00Basketball is on my mind today because right now Adam Silver is talking about
00:06let's try to make them play just 10 minutes now. Basketball has gotten to a
00:12point where I know young people hate to hear older people say that they're
00:17softer now, they're not as tough, but let's think about this. Technology was
00:24non-existent for some of the great ones back in the day. Basketball shoes were
00:29garbage. They played every damn game, sick, hurt, or what. They didn't fly around in
00:36corporate jets that were plush. They didn't complain. Today guys are making,
00:44the top dudes making anywhere 40, 50, 60, almost 70 damn million dollars a year.
00:49They don't want to play every game, now they want them to be shorter. And Adam Silver
00:55seem to be falling into it where the sport that's destroying it, they're adding
01:01more. They added 17, they're trying to add 18 games, but they claim to worry about
01:08the players health. That's a bunch of BS. But are you all cool with this?
01:14You want 10 minute quarters now? They want to limit eight minutes out
01:20of the game. My question, what is it in basketball in college, high
01:27school? Is it less or more? It's two 20-minute halves in college. College is
01:35two 20-minute halves. Okay, so you're an NBA, you say you're getting paid, should it
01:41be a little longer? What is high school? I think 10. So they
01:48want to do exactly what the high school students are doing. Yeah, I think the
01:52idea is overseas. They play 10, so they want to make it. So in other words, now
01:58you're following what overseas does. I think with all sports, they're
02:02trying to reduce the, I would say, the longevity of the game. Like people mind,
02:09like their mind spans, they can only pay attention for so long. Just like with the
02:13baseball clock thing, I think they're just trying to speed up the game.
02:16Baseball should have been sped up. Baseball is the one sleeping pill of all
02:21sports. Not much action and you're standing around, you're gonna fall asleep.
02:24Basketball has enough excitement to where you can stay attentive for a whole
02:29game. I think it depends on what you count as excitement. See, this is the
02:34problem with basketball. They always have had something to fall on. Well, they
02:40didn't play well during the middle of season, they played better when the
02:43playoffs came around. You know, they didn't play an all-star game at all. Now
02:46they just shoot up threes all damn day, no defense. So now this is all that's changed.
02:51I guarantee if they go to 10, somebody gonna try to get to 8. Life is about this.
02:57When you are given multiple choices, we have learned that this generation
03:04chooses the easiest one. Don't give them a choice. This is what the sport is. You
03:09play or you don't play. Where the hell are they gonna go? Play somewhere else?
03:13Listen, man, 12 minutes in basketball is cool. I think it's cool. Football,
03:18listen, I hear people complain about football today and I'm gonna be honest,
03:21they have everything better than what we had. And I didn't worry about, no,
03:27listen, I wanted to play, I wanted to compete. So why is it that the more
03:34technology we get, we claim the athletes are in better shape, they're better
03:38athletic, they're more talented. But all they do is complain about every damn thing.
03:41I'm not cool with it. No. Play. If they change it to 10 minutes, they're gonna
03:48try to take some money from them. I guarantee if they say we're gonna lower your salary,
03:51they'll say, oh, no, no, no, no, we'll play the 10 minutes. We'll play 12 minutes now.
03:55I don't think it's, listen, man, overseas, when did we start copying over what they're doing?
04:02The NBA is the end all be all. Why don't you make them bastards follow what you're doing
04:08instead of you trying to follow what they're doing? It makes no sense. But hey, it is what it is.
04:15Getting soft.
