00:00Five more Chinese who were helped by the ESPY to escape to the Philippines were arrested by the authorities.
00:06According to the National Bureau of Investigation,
00:08five of them are related to each other and one of their countrymen was arrested because of the same allegation.
00:14This is the news brought to you by Ian Cruz.
00:19The authorities arrested Deng Yuanqing and two Filipinos in Makati City on January 17 because they escaped to the ESPY.
00:27But it wasn't all over yet.
00:29On January 24, the authorities arrested two Chinese from Palawan in Naia Terminal 3.
00:37In these videos, drones were flying over the suspects in Ulugan Bay in Palawan
00:43where some Philippine Navy ships were sailing towards the West Philippine Sea.
00:49According to one witness, it was only on January 20 to 23 that he saw the Chinese in their area.
00:56I just noticed that they were waving their flags.
01:00They were just taking pictures of the Navy ships.
01:04On January 25, two more Chinese were arrested in Binondo and Intramuros in Manila.
01:11In a condo unit in Manila, you can see the installed military-grade CCTV.
01:17It can monitor the movements of Philippine Coast Guard and Navy ships going out and entering Manila Bay.
01:24In a follow-up operation in Dumaguete City, another Chinese, who is said to be the field commander-in-chief of the ESPY, was arrested.
01:33He lives in Dumaguete because he has a Filipino wife.
01:37The NBI also showed the CCTV camera of the suspects and the solar panel that provides power here.
01:45The NBI said that five new captives and Deng will meet in Paniniktik.
01:51We have witnesses who were able to execute the captives.
01:55This group is one.
01:58They always have meetings in Palawan.
02:02According to the Bureau of Immigration, the group has been returning to the Philippines for a long time.
02:07They have embedded themselves in our society.
02:11That's one thing that we have noticed that they are the same.
02:15Some of them have been working here with a working visa.
02:19Some of them already have a Filipino wife and have been here.
02:24The earliest record that we have of them was 2002.
02:28Some of them are members of their organization.
02:32That's why the Chinese and some officials of the country are also impressed.
02:37This is part of their method.
02:40They employ deception and exploitation.
02:43They would disguise themselves as harmless or members of a legitimate organization.
02:47They would establish contact with individuals who have access to valuable information.
02:51The NBI and the Armed Forces of the Philippines believe
02:54that the Chinese who are being spied on here in the Philippines are just the tip of the iceberg.
03:01There are still many of us who can be caught by these activities.
03:10We are in the process of building up the intelligence against this.
03:18The other suspects who asked our questions did not speak.
03:22But their leader insisted.
03:24He said you are a spy.
03:26I was not. I was not there.
03:30I was not there. I had not steal anything.
03:37You said you're a spy. Are you really a spy?
03:42We're just businessmen.
03:46The Philippine-Chinese civic leader, Teresita Angsi, called on the NBI and AFP to conduct a fair investigation.
03:55The story will be briefed before the arrested are charged with being spies.
04:01What we want is an impartial investigation.
04:06The story will be briefed before the arrested are charged with being spies.
04:16Just from getting equipment inside his car, why did you conclude like that?
04:28Ian Cruz reporting for GMA Integrated News.
