00:00And ahead of the first public consultation of 2025, we continue visiting communes in Venezuela to learn on the transformative impact of these initiatives on the territories.
00:10From Caracas, our correspondent Belén de los Santos.
00:15The members of the El Gran Sucre commune in the parish of Petare in Caracas proudly describe one of their great achievements, having been named the first cultural commune of Venezuela.
00:27And in this corner west of the city, culture and education are a way for community development.
00:33This was evidence in the 2024 public consultations when neighbors chose to finance the restoration of common spaces so that young and old generations could enjoy reading, music and sports.
00:47It's like the opportunity we see as parents, as a community, to change things.
00:55And now they are enthusiastic about their pedagogy of love alternative school.
01:01Before, they used to come and the spaces were deteriorated, closed, there was no program for the boys and girls.
01:08Now it is exciting for them to come here.
01:12It has changed, it has transformed lives, I feel.
01:16The recovered unit housed the alternative school pedagogy of love, a space for education and a stable environment for the children of the community, where through study, arts and crafts, it has been possible to create a space of gathering and pedagogical support for the youngest.
01:35Very happy, to be honest it is a joy that these spaces are once again becoming productive.
01:41Just a few meters away, the Eugenio Ramirez Grandparents Club also meets, a space where fun has no age.
01:49There, the commune's senior citizens enjoy conversations, collective birthdays and famous dance therapy classes.
01:58What we wanted was for them to integrate, to have that space, that hour, for just them, to bring them out of their homes, to go there, leave everything at that door and go let off steam.
02:11We produce, we dance, we share, we laugh and if you have stress, you get rid of it by dancing and sharing with everyone.
02:22In this way, to the rhythm of song and dance, the Grand Sucre Cultural Commune has given creative answers to specific problems of its population, managing to reincorporate students into the educational system and also making the Third Age a stage of great moments.
02:41Ahead of a new public consultation, the neighbors are ready to continue strengthening these peace and unity initiatives.
02:49We invite you to learn a little more about these initiatives, because they are ways of solving concrete problems of the community, they are meaningful, wonderful experiences.
02:59I dare say that nowhere in the world are people being consulted every three months to learn.
03:03So what do you want us to spend the resources on? What is your appreciation? What is your project like?
03:09And if you set your mind to it, you can do it, and you don't have to have limits, there are no limits, you set them yourself.
