00:21The Philippine Economic Zone Authority and the Bureau of Corrections signed a Memorandum of Agreement
00:26for the development of the Palawan Mega Economic Zone in the country.
00:31Under the agreement of PESA Director General Terezo Panga and Bucor Director General Gregorio Pio Catapang Jr.,
00:38the initial 2,000 hectares of land from Iwahig Prison and Penal Farm in Puerto Princesa will be used for the Palawan Mega Economic Zone or PMEZ.
00:49According to Catapang, the Mega Economic Zone is intended to be clean, green, and technology-driven
00:55according to the PESA Eco-Industrial Framework.
00:59It is also intended to be included in the Luzon Economic Corridor.
01:03Panga sees the Eco-Zone as an instrument for the development of high-value industries
01:10such as electric vehicle production, advanced manufacturing, green-hours processing,
01:16nanotech, knowledge-based and AI-driven industries, medical-related industries, and blue industries.
01:23The two agencies entered the Memorandum of Understanding recently.
01:27The Palawan Mega Eco-Zone is being proclaimed this year and will be operational before the term of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. in 2028.

02:27One of the objectives of the NCICP is to redistribute international container volume from the existing Cebu Base Port, which is currently operating at near full capacity.
02:51Part of the 16.93 billion pesos project is the construction of a 5k crane to facilitate the acceptance and transfer of cargo.
03:00The NCICP will fund a loan from the Export-Import Bank of Korea, or KECSIM,
03:06which will amount to 9.6 billion pesos, while the government will invest 7.2 billion pesos.
03:13Once completed, the new Cebu International Container Port will feature a longer port
03:20and a wider container yard, significantly increasing the operational capacity of the Central Visayan Main Cargo Gateway.
03:33The construction of the new facility is expected to be completed in mid-2028.
