The reopening of Tate Liverpool has been pushed back by two years. The gallery in the heart of the Royal Albert Dock closed in October 2023 for a major refurbishment and transformation which was expected to take two years to complete. Museum bosses have cited funding as the reason for the delay.

00:28Tate Liverpool Gallery was estimated to open later this year, but it's now been revealed
00:34that it's more likely to reopen in 2027 due to difficulty raising the necessary funds.
00:40Funding for the projects come from the UK government, including £10 million of levelling
00:45up funding and £6.6 million from the Department of Culture, Media and Sport.
00:50The projects also benefited from further funding from foundations,
00:54including £1.25 million from the Wolfson Foundation and gifts from individuals.
