00:00Hello everyone, it's Adam Kaplan here for Sports Grid with Todd Heap, who played of
00:05course for the Baltimore Ravens.
00:07Todd, good to see you, my friend.
00:08How are you doing?
00:09I'm doing great.
00:10Great to be on with you.
00:11All right, so I've got to ask you.
00:12Is this your first Super Bowl?
00:14Not as a player?
00:16This is my...
00:17No, I've been to the Super Bowl.
00:18When I played 12 years, there was probably eight of those 12 years where I came to the
00:23Super Bowl and did the festivities.
00:25Yeah, yeah.
00:26Oh, you did?
00:27Okay.
00:28I've done it a handful of times, yeah.
00:29But obviously, you're here for a reason.
00:31What are you promoting this week?
00:32So this week, we're here talking about Cadix Cleats, and Cadix is a company that I got
00:36involved with about six months ago, eight months ago, and it'll be the first innovation
00:43in cleated footwear in a long time, meaningful innovation.
00:46So the impetus is each cleat can swivel and rotate, kind of have its own labrum is the
00:51way I describe it.
00:53It's like putting suspension on cleats, and the idea is to alleviate all the strain and
00:58the rotational force on your feet and ankles, your ankles, your knees, and so we call it
01:04cleats for knees.
01:05Is this just for football or other sports?
01:07It's for football, soccer, lacrosse, any cleated sports.
01:13Not baseball yet.
01:14We're not there yet, but we'll eventually get to baseball.
01:17So is there a website?
01:19There's a website, cadix.com.
01:20Okay.
01:21Yeah, and you can go there and check it out.
01:22We have videos of people wearing them in action.
01:26Obviously, we've done a ton of testing.
01:28We're getting a lot of good traction.
01:29We had 20 guys in the NFL wearing them this year.
01:32Already?
01:33Already, in our first season of production, and so DBs, running backs, receivers, tight
01:39ends, a lot of guys wearing them, and we had great feedback.
01:42All right, let's turn our attention to the game.
01:44So you know this game very well, the Super Bowl.
01:47As a player, what is a week like when you're actually preparing for the first one?
01:53Is it like, wow, I'm finally here.
01:55As a kid, I dreamt about this.
01:56What was that like?
01:58Super Bowl week, you know, there's a lot of auxiliary things that go on for the players,
02:03you know, and you've got to ... Coach usually sets something where you've got to basically
02:12make sure you take care of all those things-
02:14Harbs?
02:15Was it Harbs?
02:16Early.
02:17Was it Harbs?
02:18Who was your head coach for the Super Bowl?
02:20Well, I didn't actually play in the Super Bowl.
02:22I was right in between the two Super Bowls.
02:23Oh, I'm sorry, you were.
02:25I got drafted the year after the Super Bowl in 2001 with Billick, and then Harbaugh, I
02:31was with the Cardinals that year that they were in the Super Bowl.
02:35I got you, okay.
02:36But you know for a guy who's been in the playoffs, he's had a big game.
02:39For sure.
02:40Wow.
02:41All right, let's talk to Billick.
02:42He's here, by the way.
02:43He's here.
02:44I just saw him earlier.
02:45He had everything planned out from the off-season all the way to the Super Bowl every year.
02:49So we knew exactly what the schedule was from the beginning of the year all the way through
02:53to the Super Bowl.
02:54All right, so let's talk about Philly and Kansas City.
02:57They're here again, two out of the last three years.
02:58What are your thoughts on this matchup?
03:01I'm a big Andy Reid fan, and it's hard to go against what he's been able to accomplish.
03:08That being said, there's a lot of storylines in this game.
03:11You know, you look at Saquon and what he's been able to do this year.
03:14Isn't he crazy?
03:15It's wild.
03:16But if he's able to do what he's done throughout the playoffs, they'll be hard to beat.
03:21I just don't know if he's going to get the opportunity to do that with the ball in Patrick
03:25Mahone's hands, throwing the ball.
03:26So if they can maintain their game plan of running the ball, that'll bode well for them.
03:33It's just going to be, see who gets the ball first and who drives down the field and scores
03:37first.
03:38Quick thing, though.
03:39So were you a run-the-ball guy?
03:40You wanted to throw a lot?
03:41What were you as a player?
03:42Because you got a block as a tight end, but did you feel like, all right, let's throw
03:46the football?
03:47I wanted to throw the football.
03:48At the same time, there's not many tight ends in the NFL that have blocked for a 2,000-yard
03:52rusher.
03:53Jamal Lewis.
03:54So Jamal Lewis was our 2,000-yard rusher.
03:57And so we blocked in Baltimore.
04:00We definitely had a way more balanced office than most.
04:04With that defense and that running game, I mean, come on, I get that.
04:07You're probably not going to throw.
04:08But you know what?
04:09In today's NFL, though, the Eagles are kind of a throwback.
04:11They were a passing team for decades, and now they're running the football.
04:14But this is going to be a good game.
04:15Don't you think it'll be pretty even?
04:16I think it's going to be a great game.
04:18Like I said, I think there's a lot of storylines.
04:22And whoever's going to be able to maintain their game plan is going to win the game.
04:26And I think, obviously, that goes without saying, but it's going to be between the Eagles
04:31running game and the Kansas City passing game.
04:35Who are you picking?
04:36It's hard for me to go against Andy Reid.
04:38All right.
04:39Andy Reid.
04:40Well, you heard it from Todd Heap, a former NFL great.
04:42I'm Adam Kaplan.
