00:00I know you pick it up by talking about the Chargers because we just talked about the
00:06Broncos.
00:07Yeah.
00:08Yeah.
00:09And by the way, with the Chargers, you notice since JK Dobbins, Scott, they're starting
00:12running back.
00:13Got hurt.
00:14He's on an injured reserve with a knee injury.
00:16They've looked like a different offense.
00:17They cannot run the ball effectively.
00:19They're down in scoring.
00:20They just don't look right.
00:21Their defense is still competitive.
00:22That's not the issue.
00:23The issue is offensively.
00:24They just don't move the ball well enough.
00:26And quite frankly, I understand why a lot of people like the Broncos tonight.
00:30And Mike's right.
00:31This is a big game for the Broncos.
00:32They're trying to clinch a playoff spot.
00:34They know if they win tonight, they do that.
00:36And look, I was with the oddsmakers to start the season.
00:39Their future total is five and a half.
00:41I didn't even like the over.
00:43I mean, who knew that Bo Nix could play this well?
00:46And I got to be honest with you, Scott, people are talking about Dan Campbell for coach of
00:50the year.
00:51How about Sean Payton?
00:52I'm not going to argue with that.
00:53I said earlier on the show today that I've never liked him, but I respect the job he's
00:57doing in Denver.
00:58I think he's done an incredible job in year two being in this position that they're in.
01:02He wanted his own quarterback.
01:04He got Nix.
01:05He's developed him.
01:06The kid looks like a winner.
01:08Their defense is stout.
01:10I know you have to be impressed by him.
01:11Oh, yeah.
01:12And Vance Joseph, the defensive coordinator who used to be the Broncos head coach.
01:16Remember, this is the team last year that gave up 70 points against the Dolphins.
01:21They've been mostly lights out since then.
01:23They do everything really well.
01:24They have a relatively young team.
01:25They've done a great job.
01:26And look, we'll give Chargers and Harbaugh credit, but they've come down to earth here.
01:30They're having trouble scoring.
01:32The Broncos, I like them to win this game outright.
01:34By the way, it's two and a half.
01:35The Chargers are two and a half.
01:36I actually like the Broncos to win this game outright.
01:37OK, so let's talk about the Cousins situation.
01:42Yeah.
01:43Yeah.
01:44First of all, let me explain the contract because I think some people are confused.
01:49Next year, his base salary is actually very reasonable, $27.5 million.
01:53It's fully guaranteed.
01:54They're not going to cut him.
01:55They'll look to move him the best way that they can.
01:57He also has a $10 million roster bonus that becomes fully guaranteed in March.
02:01So you're really trading $37.5 million.
02:04Still reasonable.
02:05Now, other teams that will be interested, and there will be teams interested, Scott.
02:09Looking around the league, and I put my list together, there are seven teams that I've
02:12talked to who cannot tell you exactly who their starting quarterback is going to be
02:16next year.
02:17And we'll talk more about this as we go forward, but there are only two quarterbacks
02:21who are going to go in the first round in this year, this coming draft in 2025 in May.
02:26Cam Ward, the Miami quarterback, and Shador Sanders of Colorado.
02:30That's it right now.
02:31So there's just not enough good quarterbacks to go around.
02:33I know Cousins is wildly consistent, terrible over the last five games.
02:37Before that, actually playing pretty well.
02:39But the Falcons here are saying, look, it didn't work.
02:44When you bench a quarterback who's making over $60 million with everything that was
02:48due to him this season, they're telling you what they think.
02:52They're done with him.
02:53They're going to Michael Penix, who shocked us when you and I were doing the draft cards.
02:56We were shocked at that draft pick.
02:59But now's the time.
03:00And I know publicly they'll never admit that, hey, it's the Giants, but it is the Giants.
03:05They're at home.
03:06This is a game, by the way, the Giants have 20 players, Scott, on their injury report.
03:12This is a good game for Penix to do well in his first appearance as a starting quarterback.
03:18He's a super aggressive thrower, Scott.
03:20That's what the Falcons and other teams like.
03:22By the way, the Raiders loved him for this draft, this past draft.
03:26I'm looking for Penix to do very well in his first start.
03:28And they are loaded, by the way, in offense.
03:30They got to get Kyle Pitts the football, and that starts against those Giants.
03:33All right.
03:34So, and I still think they stink.
03:36The Buccaneers are way better.
03:37The Buccaneers are going to win the division.
03:38All right.
03:39Let's look at key injuries between Houston and Kansas City at Arrowhead Saturday.
03:43Yeah.
03:44And how about Patrick Mahomes?
03:45It's his right ankle, by the way.
03:47Now, it's, I know it's been reported as a high ankle sprain.
03:51There are a couple types of high ankle sprains.
03:52Our friend, Dr. David Chalcott, explained it to you.
03:55There's the typical six to eight week high ankle sprain where there's no way he's playing
03:59this week.
04:00There's a mild high ankle sprain where you don't ask the quarterback to move around very
04:03much, but he could play through it.
04:05Mahomes, by the way, took all the ones, every single first team snap he took, he's ready
04:10to go.
04:11If something happens in the game, Carson Wentz would replace him.
04:13Carson Wentz, I'm told, actually had a very good offseason.
04:18By the way, Hollywood Brown now should be able to play his first action coming off of
04:21that bad shoulder injury, which he's coming back a little bit ahead of schedule here.
04:26And let me tell you, if the weather holds up on Saturday, bombs away.
04:30Hollywood Brown could run now for the Texans.
04:33Their offensive line, Scott, has been the problem.
04:35I know people are on CJ Stroud, what's happened?
04:37Why has he regressed?
04:38I'm not excusing the way that he's played, but they've had major offensive line protection
04:42problems, taking too many sacks.
04:44He's also not been decisive, and that's been the problem with CJ Stroud this season.
04:48How about these Steelers and Ravens on Saturday in the Charmed City?
04:52Yeah, and George Pickens again out, third straight game with a hamstring problem.
04:57For whatever reason, Scott, they're still not playing Mike Williams as much as they
05:00should.
05:01He could have been a bigger factor against the Eagles as he was two weeks ago, but they
05:04didn't get him the ball enough, didn't get enough snaps.
05:07That's problematic.
05:08They got to get him on the field more, but it's all about getting Pickens healthy for
05:10the playoffs.
05:11Deshaun Elliott, who, you know, I've been talking about Deshaun Elliott for weeks.
05:14He's been terrific, great signing for them.
05:18He is out again with a hamstring injury.
05:20Dante Jackson should play, by the way.
05:21He got some light work in.
05:22He hurt his back in the game against Philly last week.
05:24They're pretty optimistic he should play.
05:26Now, this one just happened.
05:28For the Ravens, Rashad Bateman is one of their starting receivers.
05:31He's had foot problems on and off in his career.
05:33They had a light practice today.
05:34He didn't work.
05:35And remember, Deontay Johnson's not going to play for them.
05:38They sent him home.
05:39They mutually agreed.
05:40So, they're a little bit light at wide receiver.
05:42That's a little bit of a concern, but your Steelers are beat up physically.
05:45That's the problem right now.
05:46They got too many guys hurt.
05:47That's why it makes it really hard for them to win this game.
05:50Do you think that game would have been better if Najin didn't fumble at the 20, that the
05:56game would have been closer?
05:58And by the way, how about that call where clearly Quinion Mitchell threw punches?
06:04Remember when Darnell Washington pushed Darius Slay to the back and he got called for a foul?
06:10Right through punches, too.
06:11Yeah, but the Eagles threw punches.
06:15I'm told there were three missed calls, clearly three missed calls.
06:17That one I just mentioned.
06:19But the bottom line is, you're right to bring that up, Najin Harris can't fumble.
06:24Any chance they had to make the game competitive and actually steal the game in Philly, it
06:27was done once he fumbled.
06:29So the Eagles and Commanders, a huge game for Washington, and Philly's just rolling
06:37at 10 straight.
06:39The NFL's current longest winning streak at 10 straight, you are correct.
06:42And the only concern they have injury-wise is Landon Dickerson, their left guard who
06:46left the game last week, didn't return against the Steelers.
06:50He's got a minor knee issue here.
06:51They're going to see if he can get through practice tomorrow, if he can, he'll play.
06:55If not, it'll be Tyler Steen, who was their draftee last year who filled in for him in
06:58this game.
06:59Other than that, Britton Covey, who was the best punt returner in the National Football
07:03League last season, he's had a neck injury, he's missed the last two games.
07:07He's fine, but he's got to get cleared for contact.
07:10But for the Commanders, now this is big, and I'm sure Zach Ertz wants to play against his
07:14former team.
07:15Ertz has got a concussion, but the good thing is he worked today, Scott, he got some work
07:19in, so he's progressing through the protocol.
07:21Noah Brown at wide receiver, who was a starter for the Commanders.
07:25He's done, he got put on IR last week, so they're going with D'Ami Brown, who played
07:29at North Carolina, but not for Bill Belichick.
07:33What about the Vikings and Seahawks at Lumen Field?
07:36Yeah, this concerns me.
07:37Yes, Geno Smith will play at quarterback.
07:39By the way, for the Vikings, Stephon Gilmore looks like he's going to be able to play,
07:42missed the last two games due to hamstring, and that's big with DK Metcalf on the other
07:45side.
07:46But this is what concerns me.
07:48Kenneth Walker at running back for the Seahawks, he's got this calf injury, he's missed the
07:51last two games, he's not cleared yet.
07:53And Zach Charbonnet has an oblique injury.
07:55Scott, I've had an oblique injury before.
07:58It's tough when you're running back.
08:00That is concerning for me.
08:02If Charbonnet can't play, by the way, he reminds me of James Conner, pretty good, pretty talented
08:06football player.
08:07Charbonnet is second rounder last year.
08:09They're in trouble anyway coming into this game.
08:11They're not playing great football.
08:12They got smoked last week.
08:14Even if Geno didn't get hurt, they still would have lost.
08:16They didn't play well.
08:17And the Vikings are another, yet another surprise, like the Broncos.
08:21The Vikings are still very alive.
08:23They are tied.
08:24They are tied with the Lions in the NFC North.
08:26It's time for another exciting edition, and this time a birthday edition, a bust, a cap
08:31in your ass.
08:32Now, I am coming off 20 spread covers in the last two weeks.
08:37So I have been in fuego.
08:39Let's start with Saturday with Adams plays Houston and Kansas City at Arrowhead at one
08:44o'clock, Kansas City laying three and a half.
08:47Like the Chiefs here, because we know Mahomes is going to start, boy, the Texas offenses
08:52look pitiful.
08:53It's funny.
08:54The overrunner is so low.
08:55That tells you the way that the odds makers see it.
08:57And I would agree with that.
08:58I see it a low scoring game, but the Chiefs should cover this number.
09:01The Steelers play in Baltimore.
09:03They're getting six and a half every game in the eight of nine that they've beaten Baltimore
09:09has been a one score game, 18-16, the game I went to this year already, Steelers.
09:15If the Pickens was playing, I absolutely would have liked the Steelers here.
09:20This worries me.
09:21This number is too big, but I got to take a side.
09:23I'll take the Ravens here.
09:24Mine's a six and a half.
09:25Fail.
09:26Sunday.
09:27Let's start with the one o'clock games, Cleveland in the jungle against the Bengals who've been
09:32playing pretty well.
09:33Can they get to 500?
09:34They're laying eight and a half.
09:35They're six and eight.
09:36Yeah.
09:37I'm sorry, Scott.
09:38You broke up.
09:39What game was that?
09:40Cincinnati laying eight and a half to the Browns.
09:45Yeah.
09:46And Thompson-Robinson's not very good.
09:48I like the Bengals to cover this number.
09:51The Lions in Atlanta at the Benz, Atlanta laying eight and a half with Penix.
09:56I love Penix in this game.
09:58They're going to be energized with Penix behind center.
10:00They win by double digits.
10:02Arizona is in Charlotte against the Panthers.
10:05Arizona's laying four and a half.
10:08Yeah.
10:09And Bryce Young did not play well last week.
10:10I like the Cardinals to cover this number.
10:12They need to win this and they know it.
10:15Detroit and Chicago at Soldier Field.
10:18The Lions have tons of injuries, but they're still laying six and a half.
10:22Yeah.
10:23And boy, the Bears have a long losing streak.
10:25They're not playing well.
10:26I like the Lions, by the way.
10:28The only offensive player I know they're going to miss is David Montgomery.
10:30They'll be fine.
10:31They'll be able to cover this number.
10:32Tennessee's at Lucas Oil against the Colts.
10:35The Colts are laying three and a half.
10:37Yeah.
10:38And they've got to change a quarterback.
10:41I have a slight lean towards the Colts in this game.
10:44The Rams play the Jets at Jet Life in East Rutherford.
10:48The Rams are laying three.
10:50Yeah.
10:51I like the Rams who know they need this game.
10:53They're trying to get the thing done there in the NFC West.
10:56I like the Rams to cover it.
10:57Phillies at Washington.
10:59Also at 1 o'clock.
11:00Eagles laying three and a half.
11:03Can't believe this game was not flexed.
11:04I like the Eagles to take care of business here and to beat a team like Washington has
11:07been very inconsistent lately.
11:09Minnesota's at Seattle at 4.05 at Lumen.
11:12The Vikings are laying three.
11:14Yeah.
11:15And Seattle no longer is a good home field.
11:17Remember the Giants when Daniel Jones was the quarterback, went in and beat them pretty
11:20soundly.
11:21Yeah.
11:22I like the Vikings to take care of business here.
11:24New England at Buffalo.
11:25Buffalo laying two touchdowns.
11:27Boy, that's a big number, but Josh Allen's going off and they go off and they take care
11:32of business.
11:33Vegas laying one and a half to Jacksonville in Sin City.
11:37I like Jacksonville to take care of business and actually cover this number.
11:40San Francisco at Miami.
11:42Dolphins laying one.
11:45Like the Niners and Brock Purdy to get some way, somehow, to figure out a way to win this
11:48game.
11:49Sunday night in Dallas, Tampa and the Cowboys.
11:52Cowboys are getting four.
11:54Tampa, my team to win the division as I picked before the season.
11:58They roll and Tampa gets the job done.
