00:00New research has found that 61% of job seekers have considered an apprenticeship in order
00:06to upskill or reskill for their intended career path. And in light of National Apprenticeship
00:12Week, the research also revealed that there are nearly one million in-demand roles in
00:16finance and insurance. Amidst the news that UK economic growth remains weak, it's also
00:23been reported that vacancies for permanent jobs in the UK declined at their fastest pace
00:29in four years in December 2024. A monthly jobs report from the consultancy KMPG and
00:36the recruitment firm REC showed that many firms are actually reluctant to hire. Interestingly,
00:41among permanent roles, the fastest decline in vacancies has been seen in the IT and computing
00:47sectors. Some employers, particularly in hospitality and retail, have said the government's £25
00:53billion increase in international insurance contributions, which come into force in April,
00:59will affect hiring. But what do you think?
