Transcript
00:00The first thing you notice about the XPS 13 is how small it looks.
00:13Dell claims this is a 13.3-inch screen in a chassis more than like a 11-inch laptop.
00:18In reality, it is not exactly that compact, but it is a bit smaller than the other 13-inch
00:23ultrabooks.
00:24The XPS 13 measures 7mm at its thinnest point and 18mm at its thickest and weighs 1.36kg.
00:32On the inside, it has an Intel i5 processor clocking at 1.6GHz speed and paired with 4GB
00:40of RAM.
00:41It is also configured with a 128GB SSD.
00:43One of the features that Dell emphasizes the most is the carbon fibre material at the bottom
00:48of the laptop.
00:49It contributes to the overall rigidity of the chassis.
00:52The grippability is further aided by a pair of rubber feet that run the width of the bottom
00:57of the unit.
00:58One on the front and the back.
01:00These also elevate the laptop slightly so that the ridge of hair vents on the bottom
01:05can do its job.
01:06Once you open the silver aluminium lid, you are presented with the backlit island-style
01:11keyboard, black semi-gloss keys raised over a matte background and situated above a similarly
01:18dark touchpad.
01:19Power button to the upper left.
01:21Standing out from the rubber coating is the centrally placed glass multi-gesture touchpad.
01:25The limited port selection does not include HDMI, Ethernet or an SD card slot.
01:31On the right side, there's a battery indicator, a display port and a full-size USB port.
01:36On the left, you find the power connector, another full-size USB port and a 3.5mm headphone
01:42jack.
01:43The keys are large and make them particularly readable.
01:46The F keys does double duty with the help of the function keys.
01:50A cold boot takes place in less than 21 seconds and system wakes up from sleep instantaneously.
01:57The contrast of the display does not impress much.
01:59Get perfectly on center and is adequate, but stray more than a few degrees to the either
02:03side and it becomes to fade.
02:06Unfortunately, the XPS 13 does not have a discrete graphics processor.
02:10So while the day-to-day graphics runs fine, you won't be able to play much beyond casual
02:15and social games.
02:16One feature is the Smart Connect technology, which lets the laptop periodically wake itself
02:21from sleep mode as long as it is connected to a Wi-Fi and updates your Outlook, email
02:27and calendar social networking sites and other active applications.
02:31The non-removable battery gives 5 hours of video playback and 6.50 hours of normal activities.
02:37In standby mode, it can stay for more than one week without losing charge.
02:40It is priced at Dharams 4899.
