00:00President Ferdinand R. Marcus Jr. on Tuesday welcomed Cambodian Prime Minister Han Manet

00:05at the Malacanang Palace.

00:07His two-day visit aims to advance Manila and Phnom Penh's cooperation in economy and combating

00:13transnational crimes, defense, and regional and multilateral cooperation.

00:22The Philippines and Cambodia have further strengthened their relationship in fostering

00:27economic growth, promoting peace, and supporting regional stability.

00:32This development follows the first official visit of Cambodian Prime Minister Han Manet

00:37to Malacanang today.

00:38During his visit, President Ferdinand R. Marcus Jr., First Lady Liza Arneta Marcos, and several

00:44Cabinet members extended a warm welcome to Prime Minister Han Manet and his delegation.

00:51The officials recently held a bilateral meeting that resulted in eight agreements focusing

00:57on key areas such as collaboration in agriculture, exchange of knowledge and digital transformation,

01:04cooperation in developing the skills of workers, promotion of tourism, sharing best practices

01:10in investment and fair trade, avoidance of double taxation, and prevention of the illegal

01:16transportation of cultural properties.

01:20We can maximize our existing cooperation on diverse fields of mutual interest and explore

01:27new ways to collaborate while leveraging our growing economies, the dynamism of our people,

01:33and our unyielding commitment to regional peace and stability.

01:38Allow me to reiterate our enthusiasm to welcome more Cambodians to the Philippines as tourists,

01:44as investors, as business partners, and as trusted neighbors and friends.

01:49Our cooperation spans across multiple sectors, from defense and security to trade, investment

01:56economy, and people-to-people exchanges.

01:59We are keen on taking our collaborations to new heights.

02:03President Marcus Jr. also expressed his gratitude for the Magnanimous Act thanking Cambodia

02:09for granting a royal pardon to 13 Filipino surrogates and for assisting them in Cambodia.

02:15We will never forget this act of magnanimity from His Majesty, a testament to the strong

02:21relations between our two countries.

02:24Rest assured, we will continue to stand with you in the fight against transnational crimes

02:30and their adverse effects on our peoples and on our communities.

02:36Officials anticipate that the relationship between the Philippines and Cambodia will

02:39further flourish, especially in security cooperation in the Indo-Pacific region.

02:45The upcoming 4th Philippine-Cambodia Defense Cooperation Committee meeting is expected

02:50to result in stronger military ties, particularly in responding to humanitarian assistance and

02:56support for disaster-affected communities.
