00:09the top stories at this hour. Opening a new military front in the Middle East, President
00:14Barack Obama authorized U.S. airstrikes inside Syria for the first time earlier this morning,
00:19along with expanded strikes in Iraq as part of a steady, relentless effort to root out
00:24Islamic State extremists. Obama announced that he was dispatching nearly 500 more U.S.
00:29troops to Iraq to assist that country's perceived security forces, bringing the total number
00:34of American forces sent there this summer to more than 1,500. He also urged Congress
00:39anew to authorize a program to train and arm Syrian rebels who are fighting the Islamic
00:43State of Iraq and the Levant militants. Pakistani troops with helicopters and boats have evacuated
00:49another 4,000 marooned people from Pakistan's plains, where raging monsoon floods inundated
00:54more villages today. In India, 80 army and air force transport aircraft and helicopters
00:59are dropping water bottles, biscuits, baby food and food packages for hundreds of thousands
01:03of people marooned in Kashmir. The flooding has killed 461 people in the two countries.
01:10Hot on the heels of last week's Xbox One launch and this week's Destiny game launch comes
01:15the annual highlight of the UAE's gaming calendar, Games 14. The three-day event is being held
01:20at the Dubai World Trade Center and runs until September 13.
01:24Shukran, I love you, Gaga said at the end of her first Dubai show last night at the
01:29mainland race course. She was beaming as she took a final bow flanked by her band and dancers.
01:34Throughout the night, she hyped the crowd up with a slew of her biggest hits from Guy
01:37and Just Dance to Poker Face and Bad Romance.
