00:00The 6th edition of the Sharjah Light Festival presents several surprises and new creative
00:13designs.
00:15Public buildings, mosques, universities and even markets bask in beautiful eye-catching
00:20lights and colors.
00:22The festival offers a distinctive blend of lights and sounds to create various designs
00:26using the latest lighting techniques to display artwork on major buildings and highlighting
00:31the heritage of Sharjah and its Islamic architecture.
00:35What allows Sharjah to host this kind of festival is the architecture that we have.
00:40The architecture that we have in Sharjah is different.
00:43It's very detailed.
00:44There are a lot of details in the design of the facades of all of our buildings.
00:49They're really iconic.
00:50What people always think is that it's just a light festival that we have projections
00:54on the buildings and that's it.
00:56But this is not really what the light festival is about.
00:59The light festival is more about positioning Sharjah internationally on the world tourism
01:03map.
01:04Besides, there are many other dimensions to the light festival, spreading the message
01:10or the identity of Sharjah and the culture behind all of these buildings.
01:15So it's not only the building, it's what's behind that building.
01:18There is a lot of thought, there is a lot of, you know, a vision from His Highness the
01:24Ruler of Sharjah for Sharjah being a cultural hub.
01:29The festival, which runs from February 4 to 13, under the theme Travel Across Time, has
01:34expanded to new locations, including Al Qasimiyah University, University City Hall, Planetarium
01:40Jubail New Market, Supreme Council for Family Affairs in Sharjah and Cultural Palace, among
01:45others.
01:46Over the years, the Sharjah Light Festival has come to occupy a prominent position in
01:50the calendar of events in the region, attracting thousands of local and foreign visitors.
