00:00Good day, welcome to the Gulf News Update for Wednesday, August 17.
00:06Here are the top stories at this hour.
00:09Donald Trump has accused rival Hillary Clinton of being against the police and claimed that
00:14she and other Democrats pander to African-American voters.
00:18We reject the bigotry of Hillary Clinton, which panders to and talks down to communities
00:23of color and sees them only as votes, that's all they care about, Trump said in remarks
00:29delivered not far from Milwaukee, the latest city to be overcome by violence in the wake
00:34of a police shooting.
00:35Trump, who is lagging behind in the polls, accused Clinton of being on the side of the
00:40rioters and argued that Democratic policies have made life for African-Americans and in
00:47inner cities worse.
00:49Knock knock, Google's video chatting app has arrived.
00:52The app, dubbed Duo, represents Google's response to other popular video calling options, including
00:58Apple's FaceTime, Microsoft's Skype and Facebook's Messenger app.
01:03Duo isn't much different from the other video chatting services, except that it gives a
01:08glimpse at who is making the call, helping the recipient decide whether to answer.
01:13Google calls this feature Knock Knock.
01:15The new app is being released as a free service for phones running on Google's Android operating
01:21system as well as Apple's iPhones.
01:23Unlike FaceTime for iPhones, Duo only requires a person's phone number to connect.
01:30Ellen DeGeneres says she's not racist after receiving backlash on social media for posting
01:35an edited photo of herself riding on the back of Jamaican sprinter Usain Bolt.
01:41The talk show host said on Twitter that she's highly aware of the racism that exists in
01:46our country, but that's the furthest thing from who I am.
01:50DeGeneres posted the photo Monday with the caption,
01:53This is how I'm running errands from now on.
01:56The image of a white woman riding a black man was criticized by many users on social
02:01media.
02:03And finally, the weather.
02:04Today's high across the UAE will be 45 degrees Celsius, dropping to 30 degrees at night.
02:10That's all for now.
