00:00Good day, and welcome to the Gulf News Update for Sunday, August 26. Here are the top stories
00:08at this hour.
00:09The death toll from devastating floods in the southern India state of Kerala rose to
00:14445 with the discovery of 28 more bodies as the waters recede and a massive cleanup gathers
00:21pace, government officials said.
00:23Around a million people are still packed into temporary relief camps, and 15 are reported
00:28missing even as the government mounts an operation to clean homes and public spaces that have
00:34been filled with dirt and sand left by the floods.
00:37A Sharjah court that heard a bounced check case against Arif Naqvi, founder of the private
00:42equity firm Abraj on Sunday, was adjourned until Tuesday, August 28. The court, which
00:48heard the case on August 14, had reserved its judgment to August 26.
00:54This is the second such case against Naqvi to be heard in a court in the UAE. The case
01:00relates to a check worth 798 million dirhams issued by Naqvi to Sharjah-based Crescent
01:06Group founder Hamid Jafar.
01:07Mohamed Salah extended his extraordinary scoring run at Anfield when Liverpool beat Brighton
01:131-0 to make it three wins out of three without conceding in the Premier League. Mo will get
01:19those chances and he will take them and the front three are always going to create problems,
01:24Liverpool midfielder James Milner said later.
01:27The boxing match between YouTubers KSI and Logan Paul was set to be, at least according
01:33to the hype, the biggest event in internet history. But in the end, it may have all been
01:38the prequel to another event as the main fight ended in a draw in front of 20,000 people
01:43at the Manchester Arena.
01:45After six evenly fought rounds, the judges scored a draw, meaning the drama will be extended
01:50to a rematch already scheduled for February.
01:53And finally, the weather. Today's highs across the UAE will be 42 degrees Celsius, dropping
01:58to 31 degrees at night.
02:00That's all for now. Thanks for watching. And as always, you can get the latest updates
