00:07from Malayalam film industry today. There is national award winning director Salim Ahmed

00:12and of course the heartthrob of Malayalam industry, Tovino Thomas. He is already in

00:17five movies and of course he is doing a great job today. He is actually going to play a

00:22bit of Salim Ahmed and his struggles as a filmmaker in this movie called And the Oscars

00:28Did you struggle so much when you were doing it?

00:58There were a lot of people in the family and outside to support me. But there was no

01:05situation where they could do anything for me, especially in cinema. I wanted to act

01:10in a movie that a director, an actor, a light boy or even a make-up assistant would not

01:15know about. So I resigned from my previous job and came here. I did a chance investment

01:22in 2011-12. I got a small role in 2012. After that I worked as an assistant director.

01:31How long did it take for you to decide that it will be your life that will be portrayed

01:36on this movie?

01:37Actually we haven't had any such discussions. When Salim said the story, I understood that

01:44it will be his life. I took him as a reference. Generally I am very much dependent on the

01:57director. In this movie I was very particular that I have to copy some of the manners that

02:06he always uses in his life. Not imitation. I didn't want it to be imitation.

02:15Now there is a nepotism debate. If a father is a big producer or a director, it is very

02:22easy for him.

02:23I would like to say one thing in that. Contradictory to that is, now everyone is saying that

02:29nepotism is very easy for a father or anyone in the industry. But that is only a head start.

02:39I am not saying that there is no head start in the industry. One or two movies will be

02:45good. The people who are able to do that, even those who have come as a father in the

02:52industry, will leave. It is because of their ability that we are able to live today.
