01:11as well as programs for the modernization of the military.

01:18to buy non-submarine submarines.

01:22Hopefully, it's a dream for us to get at least two submarines.

01:29We are an archipelago and so we have to have this type of capability

01:35because it's really difficult to defend the entire archipelago without submarines.

01:41Last year, the fund for the AFP modernization program increased by 29%

01:48where the government allocated P35 billion in 2025.

01:53General Browner admitted that this is not enough

01:57especially since there are also multi-year contracts

02:00for the first purchased equipment.

02:02But he is working on a way to have additional funds

02:06with the help of local and foreign financing.

02:10In fact, we have had some offers already.

02:15We are studying the legality of this.

02:18But for all the help that can be given to AFP,

02:24Philippine Coast Guard and other government agencies

02:28that are involved in securing our territory and our sovereign rights,

02:36This year, two new corvettes are expected to be delivered from South Korea

02:41including the BRP Miguel Malbar that will arrive in March.

02:45There are also new landing dock ships and six offshore patrol vessels.
