00:00PAS, unlike its ally BERSATU, is not keen on peddling the narrative that the country

00:06will see a snap election before year-end, a party leader said.

00:11Speaking on condition of anonymity, the leader told FMT that PAS and BERSATU seem to be working

00:16independently with PAS yet to mobilize its election machinery, even as BERSATU appears

00:21to be preparing for nationwide polls.

00:24He added that no discussions have taken place between leaders of the two parties on the

00:28opposition coalition's prime ministerial candidate.

00:31Last week, BERSATU Secretary-General Azmin Ali revealed that BERSATU President Muhyiddin

00:37Yassin had instructed the party's election machinery to be activated in anticipation

00:42of a snap election being called later this year.

00:45According to Azmin, the encouraging development was discussed at a meeting between PAS President

00:50Abdul Hadi Awang and Muhyiddin on February 5th.

00:54Separately, a BERSATU leader, who also did not wish to be named, said only a handful

00:59of party leaders doubt that a snap election is on the horizon, but acknowledged that there

01:03was nothing to suggest one would be called any time soon.
