00:00This came from a parliamentary question, a parliamentary question asked to Senator Dato' Dr. Muhammad Naim Mokhtar,

00:09who is a minister in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the Halehwal Agama group, Islam Agama,

00:14answering the Lisan question at the People's Council, and he said,

00:18JAKIM is terminating a special guidance line.

00:23So when he answered like that, of course, people who don't know about the existing guidance line

00:32will be upset, and I'm sad because this issue exploded with, as usual,

00:40lack of empathy from all parties.

00:43If I was nominated by the minister on that day and asked this Lisan question,

00:49I would refer to a decision by the Speaker of the National Assembly Fatwa

00:55on the issue of Islam Agama on the 12th of April 2005,

01:01that is, the guidance line for Muslims to celebrate the anniversary of the expansion of non-Muslim religion.

01:07It's already there.

01:09So I feel that he should just refer to the existing guidance line,

01:15but he is also a victim in this matter.

01:18That's my view anyway.

01:19But there are also those who say that there is no need for a guidance line.

01:22That Muslims know what to do.

01:24I think I'm not comfortable with that view because,

01:28yes, maybe a large part of us know,

01:31if you go to, for example, a wedding,

01:34friends of other religions, what we can do, what we can't do,

01:38in the church, if they're singing hymns and stuff like that, don't join and all that.

01:42But is it wrong to have guidelines so that people, so it's clear?

01:47I don't know.
