00:00China patrolled the South China Sea with the Philippine, American and Canadian Joint Patrols.
00:07The negotiation for the defense treaty between the Philippines and Canada is in full swing.
00:13Chino Gaston is on the scene.
00:15Along with the Multilateral Maritime Cooperative Activity or MMCA in the West Philippine Sea of the Philippines, Canada and America,
00:27yesterday, the AFP confirmed that it spotted a Chinese Navy warship, a research vessel, and a helicopter.
00:35According to China, their ships patrolled the South China Sea with the Philippine, American and Canadian Joint Patrols.
00:40China also said that the Philippines' invitation of foreign countries for the joint patrols is just a cover-up for the incitement of chaos, media hype, and violence against China's right to the sea.
00:55But the AFP is against the Philippines' right to conduct joint patrols and to conduct the MMCA under international law.
01:03As a military force of the Philippines, we are anchored on international laws in this.
01:09The arbitral ruling ruled in the favor of the Philippines and this is the right of our country to perform in these exercises in our exclusive economic zone.
01:18The AFP Chief of Staff General Romeo Bronner wants to add more countries to join the MMCA while the Department of National Defense has already started negotiations in Canada
01:29to form a defense treaty with the Visiting Forces Agreement in America.
01:34We are looking forward to having more of this with other countries such as Italy, United Kingdom, and France.
01:43Before, we don't have joint sails with these countries and this is a good sign because it means that again, we share interests and we have common objectives.
01:54But the Philippines' EEZ Joint Patrols are not the only thing that China is monitoring.
01:59The Chinese Foreign Ministry promised the Philippines that it will not comply with the promise of removing the U.S. Typhoon Missile Launcher from the zone.
02:08But according to the AFP, the Philippines has no such promise to China.
02:12We have no such commitment.
02:14Our Typhoon Missiles for the side of the AFP, we use it for our exercises, for training purposes.
02:22In April of 2024, the U.S. Typhoon Missile System arrived in the Philippines to teach the Filipino soldiers how to use it.
