00:24That's always been in the MVP marketplace, but when you see the graphic, it's like, okay,

00:36don't make any sense, and also, what's to come?
00:38Like, we understand SGA's a great basketball player, and I always equate this to the NFL,
00:42like, you can't be an All-Pro typically, until you have, like, two All-Pro seasons, then
00:46they finally recognize you.
00:48SGA's been flirting around that MVP market for some time, it hasn't gotten one, but they
00:52want to see you on the level, then give you the benefit of the doubt the following year,
00:56which is what SGA's getting.
00:57And I don't think anybody's going to be upset, Ben, if SGA wins that award, but 30-plus games
01:02away at the All-Star break now, like, he can maybe take a little bit of a down step back,
01:08and Jokic seems like he never has a down step, but if you're just doing that, you know, if
01:11you said player A, player B, and put that up there, it's like, I don't understand these
01:15ratings at this point, and where these numbers are coming from, other than the love of SGA,
01:19and we always give it to Nikola Jokic.
01:22It's crazy we're talking this way, that it's wrapped up, and you see the numbers as if
01:26Jokic isn't going to average a triple-double for an entire season, and let's go, yeah,
01:30that's not good enough anymore.
01:32Listen, a couple of things here, I think, go into this, outside of just voter fatigue,
01:36and we've seen the Joker win it now three times in the last four NBA seasons, and don't
01:41want to give him back-to-back once again.
01:44If that were to happen, Nikola Jokic would become the sixth player in NBA history, alongside
01:50Michael Jordan, Bill Russell, Will Chamberlain, and LeBron James, to win four NBA MVP awards.
01:57When you look at Jokic in the numbers, he is basically, or he is, averaging a triple-double.
02:03He is top four in every single category, third in points, fourth in rebounds, second in assists,
02:11and he is shooting nearly 58% from the floor.
02:14We talked about the Nuggets, winners of eight in a row, now in the three spot in the Western
02:19Conference.
02:20Last night, career best night for Jamal Murray, 55 points, but kind of glaze over the fact
02:24that Nikola Jokic had 26, 15, and 10 for yet another triple-double.
02:31But Donnie, the narrative is not just voter fatigue for me, it's also Shea Gildress Alexander
02:35stepping up his game, leading the NBA in scoring, 32.6 points per game, and his OKC team being
02:42better than everybody right now in the Western Conference and in the NBA.
02:47When you marry those two things together, the individual success of Shea Gildress Alexander
02:52and what we expected out of Oklahoma City, and the Thunder capitalizing on those high
02:57expectations, that's why SGA is the hefty favorite.

03:03And also, we like the new shiny toy out here, Jokic gets it enough, it's not that big of
03:07a deal.
03:08If it's close, we give the tie to somebody else.
03:10Almost like in the Joel Embiid markets, you're the MVP.
03:12On the cusp for a couple years, oh, we always give it to the other guy, now if it's somewhat
03:16even, we can give it to the other person.
03:18That's what always happens.
03:19That's just the human mentality, specifically in the voting process.
03:22And what Ben and I aren't seeing, he's sitting here saying like, this is ridiculous.
03:25What is ridiculous here is that he's that far of a head, even though you look at the
03:29open court performance, and there's almost identical outside of the team concept where
03:34it's like, OK, well, the team is better, best player from that team.
03:36And again, we understand that that's going to be a piece of it, which maybe leads me
03:40to say minus 200 as the favorite for SGA, not minus 600.
03:45But as the season goes along, if you just extrapolate first half and second half, OKC
03:50is the best team in the NBA record wise.
03:52SGA, if healthy, is definitely going to get this award.
03:55And it's almost crazy to say no matter what, Nikola Jokic even does, which is crazy.
