00:00Hi guys and welcome once again to Straight Back with Golf News and Mr. Cricket UAE Anas
00:13Sajjan himself.
00:15We just witnessed another great match, it was a little bit more one-sided than last
00:20night.
00:21Delhi, more than living up to the reputation, is one of the favourites for the title and
00:26Sunrisers looking a little bit in trouble.
00:29First of all we'll go to Anas so you can say hellos.
00:33Hi Matt, hi all the wonderful people of Golf News, hello Mr. Shyam, hello Satish and hello
00:38both the fans, that is Maaz as well as Inayat, a bit disappointed.
00:43One-sided match as you mentioned Matt, clinical performance by Delhi both with the bat and
00:48with the ball and I'm afraid it looks like the end of the road for Hyderabad.
00:55Shyam, I'm pretty sure that you'll probably give a bit of a consensus on that, I think
00:59there's a lot of work for Sunrisers to do to reach the play-offs now.
01:04Actually they don't have much more to do because they're pretty much out of the tournament
01:10so they just have to fulfil the rest of their appointments and then go home.
01:15So I'm looking forward to how Delhi is going to fare because they're in the top four and
01:23perhaps they are in the best chance to win the trophy so if they don't win it, it's
01:27going to be a huge heartbreak for them.
01:30And I mean obviously Delhi's come close so many times but they can feel that maybe this
01:40might be their season and obviously we'll go to Maaz.
01:46You guys, you must be feeling a little bit pretty happy right now.
01:51Yeah definitely, as you guys mentioned earlier it was a very one-sided game.
01:56So it was pretty much calm the entire game, we were dominating the entire game, the very
02:01first over, sending back David Warner for a duck.
02:04So yeah, pretty much a calm game for Delhi Capitals.
02:09Okay, and Aniyath, where do Sunrisers go from here?
02:15I mean I think this is probably a little bit more interesting than the, I mean Delhi's
02:19probably going to make the playoffs now, but Warner going, losing the captaincy, how do
02:28you restructure now, Aniyath?
02:30As Rashid has said before the start of the match, that we don't have anything to lose
02:38now.
02:39So we will go and we will play and enjoy our cricket and hopefully we can do some damage
02:43to the other teams.
02:46So you might be the kingmakers in the end of who makes it to the playoffs?
02:50Sure, sure, we might be the kingmakers now because we have nothing to lose now.
02:56Okay, now there was a lot of interesting scores in there, I mean obviously Warner was one,
03:02Aniyath, what was your take on like say Kane, Dhawan, I mean obviously you mentioned Dhawan
03:10is trying to get back into the team for India in your comment yesterday I think.
03:16And I think you were bang on, I mean he got another 42 today, so maybe they might start,
03:23the selectors might start considering him before the cut-off date.
03:26I guess two points, like you asked me about Dhawan, one is obviously he showed that how
03:33to bat on this wicket, this was not that free-flowing wicket, you had to put your head down and
03:38play according to the situation. And that is what Dhawan did by scoring a runner ball,
03:44probably a little more than a runner ball. But at the same time, he ensured that he was
03:49up with the run rate. Now when you talk about Kane Williamson, he had a couple of opportunities,
03:55he didn't capitalize on that. And when Kane Williamson, you know, is the backbone of the
03:58team, if he doesn't perform, the team struggles and that's what happened. They never got going,
04:03they were never in the game, apart from some late hitting by Rashid and a little bit of Samad.
04:09I'm afraid they were very poor with the bat as well as with the ball and Delhi were spot on.
04:16And Satish, thanks for joining us as well. What was your take on it and do we see a team
04:23in the dust and one that's on the way to the playoffs?
04:27Actually, Sunrisers still have a mathematical chance. They need to play another six
04:34games and they are in two points and if they can get to score another 12 points in the next
04:41six games, that means they have to win all six, which has happened in the past. I think
04:47Chennai has done it, many other teams have done it, they have come to the playoffs, they have
04:51even gone on to win the title. So there is still a mathematical chance for Sunrisers to make it,
04:57but will this team make it is a big question mark, which I have to ask because the main reason is
05:04they don't have Bairstow. Bairstow has been the backbone since the last two seasons. So even if
05:09Warner was not getting runs, he comes in number three or maybe even opens with him and then he
05:14keeps one end going and he was the mainstay for Sunrisers. His absence was felt today more than
05:20anybody else. So whoever is coming as a replacement, will they be able to do the same thing
05:27which Bairstow has done? It's very debatable, but that was the reason why they couldn't do it today
05:33and I'm sure unless they find somebody who could play that role to perfection,
05:38it is going to be an extremely difficult task. Of course, they can probably spoil a couple of
05:46contenders party in the next six games, but still I won't write them off because of the
05:54UAE wickets where you still see even though they scored only 134, it almost came up to the
06:01end of 18th over. So if another 20-30 runs, anyway the match could have won and that too against
06:08Delhi, which has got probably one of the best batting lineup or bowling lineup, it's a complete
06:13team. So there's nothing new that they have performed so well, but if you look at another 20
06:20runs could have made it a bit more tougher and closer, so you never know. Okay, you sound like
06:28you're a Norwich City fan wanting to win the Premier League, that's the way I really say anyway.
06:33Anya Shah, how do you think this? Do you think we go back and rebuild
06:44already or do you hold out hope? I mean Satish is a Chennai fan,
06:48so he's being a bit neutral here. Do you think that you've got a realistic chance?
06:52Yes, I think so. We have still like six games to play and I think last time Mumbai has done the
07:06same. They won all their games and they won the title too. And Hyderabad, you know the pitchers
07:13here in Dubai help spin us definitely and we have Rashid here, we have Navi waiting in line
07:19and apart from him, Samad can bowl too and we just need one push where we can just build up our team
07:27and we can just get back into the tournament. Okay, good luck with that. Maaz, now you guys
07:37are sitting in pretty at the top of the tables now. Top four pretty much confirmed. Do we go
07:45for complacency or do we go for pushing on and just like try and keep the momentum in every single
07:51game? I think we are very much capable of finishing in the top two, maybe at the top of the table as
07:57well. The real threat is CSK because as we know, RCB lost their rhythm last year during the business
08:04end of the tournament and as we saw in the last game, they were pretty rusty against Kolkata
08:08Knight Riders and with all the drama going on with Kohli and his captaincy, there will be some
08:13issues with RCB trying to come in the top two. So, it's very much easy to understand that
08:18Delhi Capitals and Chennai Super Kings finishing top two at the table. Okay and Sam, what's your
08:26final take? I mean obviously now everyone's played. We've seen everyone at least in action at least
08:34once. What's your take on where do we go from here? Is it still too early to call even
08:42though we're now at the business end of the competition?
08:49To me, it's pretty clear that three teams are already there according to me because simply
08:56Delhi Capitals will definitely be there, so will be Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians will
09:02also be there. RCB, I'm not too sure simply because if you look at their record, they have a tendency
09:08to crumble towards the business end of the tournament, which is a huge worry and
09:15like Miles pointed out, see with all the things are going on around Kohli, they could be
09:20distracted as well and also they're now being known for their consistency. So, RCB could be
09:28the fourth team but I wouldn't bet on that. Okay, now Anas, I mean I think that when we came in,
09:35we were talking about previously things, we look like this might be Virat's year. Is it going to be
09:42another frustration for Virat and his team? Like both Shyam and Miles mentioned, I'm afraid the
09:50announcement about his leaving the captainship was not timed well. What happens is it not only
09:56puts pressure on him but also on his players that you want to win it for your captain.
10:02He would have kept it silent without making it public, it would have been better. But nonetheless,
10:07he's Virat Kohli, he can speak his heart out. But having said that, you never know with RCB
10:13because they have the firepower and Glenn Maxwell, they have Mr 360, AB de Villiers, Virat himself
10:19and if Devdutt Padikkal can give them that stability in the start, they can put on the
10:25runs and they have a decent bowling attack. But like all of us mentioned that the two teams
10:30which will make at the top two will get an extra bite at the cherry and that looks to me,
10:35in fact all of us Delhi Capitals and CSK. So the only worry for Delhi Capitals is they are going
10:41to play CSK and their record against CSK is poor. So that is where Mars has to wait that if they
10:47get across Delhi CSK, then they have that chance that they meet that one team which they can beat
10:53in the final and not Mumbai Indians. It should not be Mumbai Indians. We did beat Chennai Super
10:58Kings in the Gulf News quiz. So maybe Delhi Capitals. I was just trying to see where this
11:09has come from and now I understand. I love the rivalry. Every single team has their passion.
11:16I love it. I love it. Tomorrow we've got Mumbai against KKR. So we've got another big trailer
11:26and you guys can join us again then. In the meantime, you can go on to gulfnews.com and get
11:31all the information you need there from ball by ball to all the reaction analysis and previews.
11:39Thanks very much to Anas and thanks very much to the team including Sham, Mars, Neha and Satish.
11:45And we shall see you all tomorrow. Okay, Matt, before we go, I want to quickly ask all of them,
11:51Ken, who's going to win tomorrow? Because you know the track record of KKR versus Mumbai. So
11:58quickly, Sham, will KKR win or Mumbai win tomorrow? Mumbai. Satish? I'll go with KKR.
12:07Okay, we'll just see whose prediction comes out. Matt? I think Mumbai.
12:12Okay, Mars? I think it's KKR coming back from a win. So definitely KKR.
12:17Okay, Inayat? I think it will be Mumbai. I think Rohit will play tomorrow and they will
12:24get back in the winning rhythm. I also go with Mumbai. So it's 4-2. Let's see.
12:33Just like everything else, we get a split decision. But again,
12:37thanks very much everybody. And we'll see you at gulfnews.com and we'll see you again
12:41tomorrow night. Thanks, guys. Thank you, guys. Bye.
