00:00A former law minister has suggested that the government emulate Indonesia when it comes

00:10In a post on X, Zaid Ibrahim said the republic implements a multi-level selection process

00:18He said the Indonesian president appoints a selection panel comprising reputable and

00:22long-serving community members, including from the police force.

00:28The panel invites applicants, including members of the public, to submit their names and resumes,

00:33and after extensive interviews, it submits a list of nominees to the president, who must

00:38then obtain parliament's consent to nominate the chief commissioner of the anti-graft agency.

00:43Zaid's call follows criticism of Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission Chief Commissioner

00:48Azam Bakyi, claiming that insufficient information was hampering the probe into an alleged mining

00:54scandal in Sabah.

00:57In 2023, Law and Institutional Reform Minister Azalina Othman Zaid revealed that the government
