00:00With Southeast Asia's digital economy expected to hit US$2 trillion by 2030, cybersecurity

00:07is fast becoming a critical pillar of ASEAN's economic resilience.

00:12Data suggests that the financial toll of cyber breaches is significant, posing a serious

00:17threat to ASEAN's stability.

00:19According to estimates, attacks targeting data in on-site systems and public and private

00:24clouds can cost up to US$3.55 million per breach.

00:29To make matters worse, ASEAN companies can take up to nine months to detect and contain

00:34these threats, leaving sensitive data vulnerable.

00:38With the technological and trade rivalry between US and China escalating, ASEAN must strengthen

00:43its digital infrastructure.

00:46It must develop a unified cybersecurity framework, leveraging on the foundation laid by the ASEAN

00:51Regional Computer Emergency Response Team.

00:55The 10-nation bloc must also address its skills shortage by expanding training programs

00:59and incentivizing university partnerships.

01:02It must also strengthen public-private partnerships to ensure a cohesive and resilient digital

01:07infrastructure.

01:09To ensure interoperability with global frameworks, ASEAN would do well to adopt international

01:14cybersecurity best practices, such as the European Union's Network and Information

01:19Security Directive.

01:21At the end of the day, a strong, coordinated and well-funded cybersecurity strategy is

01:25what ASEAN needs to enhance its economic and strategic resilience.
