00:00This latest iteration began on Thursday evening after pay negotiations broke down and that
00:09resulted in the union advising its members that they simply didn't have to show up to
00:14work yesterday and again today.
00:18The state government said that more than 500 workers across the rail system didn't turn
00:23up yesterday and that resulted in large disruptions and cancellations across the network including
00:29on the South Coast line down to Kayema which saw no trains for large parts of the day.
00:35Here at Central Station weekend commuters have said that it hasn't been quite as disruptive
00:40today as it has been in other instances but they're no less frustrated at this ongoing
00:47saga.
00:48People can't get to work or do it, you know, just do their normal thing, like there's so
00:52many people that commute every day and, you know, obviously it is a big disruption.
00:58There have been times where it would take me three hours to get back down to Wollongong
01:03where it's usually like an hour and twenty minute trip.
01:06It wasn't until 11 o'clock last night that I found out the trains were back today otherwise
01:12it would have been quite annoying.
01:13The bus was a bit running late, that made me a little bit edgy but so far getting the
01:20train is so good.
01:22The State Government has said that it's optimistic it can resolve this this weekend but Sydney
01:26Trains has warned commuters to expect delays and further disruptions right through the
01:32weekend and even into early next week.
01:34Meanwhile the Rail Union says that it wants the State Government to come back to the table
01:40to negotiate over pay to try to reach a long awaited deal in this saga.
