00:00Offseason winners now, and again, how do we attack them?
00:02Because the public is really on a lot of these teams.
00:05We're gonna start here with the Chicago Cubs.
00:07Everyone talking about the addition of Kyle Tucker,
00:09Ryan Pressley on the back end, gives them that win equity.
00:12There's an arm here or there that may help.
00:15Joe, you and I often talk about teams needing a big three.
00:18When it comes to big three pitchers, big three bats,
00:21a closer and a manager.
00:22In your football books, you often talk about
00:24a quarterback and a coach.
00:25In baseball, we're talking about a closer and a manager,
00:29a bullpen and a manager.
00:30The Cubs have that.
00:31The three pitchers are Steele, Imanaga,
00:33and I think if Assad is healthy.
00:35You like Matthew Boyd.
00:36Let's talk Cubbies.
00:38Yeah, first of all, let's talk about
00:40Night at the Roxbury being a very underrated SNL comedy.
00:42I just wanna put that out there.
00:44It's pretty funny.
00:45You go back, it actually holds up a little.
00:46Grieco, Richard.
00:49Everybody loves a little Richard Grieco.
00:51Yeah, all right.
00:52So, Butabe brothers aside,
00:54Kyle Tucker is the acquisition to talk about.
00:56Kyle Tucker in a contract year,
00:58playing it out for the Cubs.
00:59It's a good hitting environment.
01:00So he goes from one good hitting environment to another.
01:02It's a good hitting division for him too
01:05in some of the ballparks.
01:06He's gonna play in Cincinnati and Pittsburgh,
01:07all those good spots there.
01:08Matthew Boyd, you mentioned,
01:10you know, coming over too,
01:11had a really good flourish of the season,
01:13left-handed starter.
01:14Maybe he's healthy and figured it out.
01:15This could be a nice addition to that rotation,
01:17but the Cubs already have that one-two punch at the top
01:20with Imanaga and Justin Steele.
01:22Those guys are vastly underrated still.
01:24And now you get Presley to close out games,
01:26tie-ons there too.
01:28So I feel like the Cubs are maybe one more pitcher away,
01:31but you look at the rest of this offense
01:32and the lineup looks so different
01:33when you put Kyle Tucker in it, right?
01:35Because you've got a real superstar.
01:36The rest of this lineup is good, right?
01:38Swanson, Bush, Ian Happ, Seiya Suzuki's a nice player,
01:42but it's lacking star power.
01:45And Kyle Tucker brings that to the Cubs.
01:46I think the Cubs, with the Cardinals regressing,
01:50with Pittsburgh still feeling like
01:51they're a little ways away, maybe offensively,
01:54I think the Cubs smell blood in the water
01:56in this division.
01:57And I like how aggressive they've been
01:58in the last two off-seasons, especially this year.
02:01So I think the Cubbies are gonna be in it,
02:02which is gonna really be exciting
02:04because I feel like baseball's better
02:06when the Cubs are better.
02:09Nicely done.
02:10There's your soundbite.
02:11Let's clip that, put that out to all socials
02:13because that right there is a really good statement.
02:16It's an almost, an anti-Dodger statement, if you will.
02:19There's two different-
02:20I hate to know you have the doom, doom, doom,
02:23and you have the Cubbies.
02:24All right, let's talk Boston Red Sox here.
02:26We talked about them a bit at the top of the show,
02:28adding some pitching, adding some bats.
02:31Again, it comes down to bullpen for me.
02:32I think if guys like Liam Hendrickson or Robbis Chapman
02:35should falter or wear thin as the season goes on,
02:38then it's Garrett Whitlock that needs to come in
02:39and do the heavy lifting.
02:40There's a lot of pitching on this ball club,
02:43a lot, and a lot of hitting.
02:45I'm just hoping the prices aren't reflective
02:48of the public is really on this team, Joe.
02:50Talk about the Sox.
02:52Well, I mean, it's a public team,
02:54so I understand why they're excited.
02:56And we talked a lot about Bregman in the opening segment,
02:58but I want to talk more about Garrett Crochet
02:59because this is an emerging superstar pitcher.
03:02This is a lefty who's striking out guys
03:04at a 13, 14K per nine rate.
03:06I mean, it's absurd as a starting pitcher
03:08what this guy is capable of.
03:09The question is how many innings
03:11is he going to give you this year?
03:12Does he give you 175?
03:13Does he give you 180?
03:14Is he going to be okay when you get to the playoffs?
03:16This was a guy that got shut down last year.
03:18So that's a huge addition to this.
03:20And again, the front of this rotation, and he's young,
03:23and he's going to be able to grow here
03:25with this organization.
03:25They're going to be able to pay him too.
03:27Walker Buehler, who if he can regain the past form,
03:32and well, in the end of the playoffs,
03:34you know that the last couple of games
03:35are against the Mets and the Yankees.
03:36He looked much more like Walker Buehler.
03:38So maybe he was finding it again.
03:40I don't want to put too much stock into a small sample,
03:43but those last couple of starts that he made in the playoffs
03:47where that ball was really moving around a lot more,
03:49that to me was very encouraging.
03:51You put him with Bayo and Houck and Cutter Crawford,
03:54potentially there even Giolito on a returning Tommy John
03:57at some point, that's a pretty deep rotation.
04:00So now all of a sudden you've bolstered your offense
04:02with Bregman, you've bolstered your bullpen with Chapman,
04:05and now you've bolstered your rotation
04:06with two possibly very legitimate front end starters.
04:10The Boston Red Sox had a really good off season.
