00:00Now there's this new group that's against online casino gaming just everywhere.
00:05So, I mean, maybe I'm wrong.
00:06Maybe it's just, they just don't feel safe passing this thing.
00:10Yeah.
00:10And this is, this is something we've known.
00:12Uh, but, uh, you know, because we've watched the hearings in Maryland, we've
00:16heard the hearings in Louisiana where Cordish companies specifically has been
00:20very vocal in their, uh, opposition to expanding online, of course, they own
00:26regional casino companies, uh, or regional casinos in each of these states.
00:30And they, they say, you know what, we like what we have.
00:33We don't need to expand it.
00:34We don't need to, uh, be detrimental to the public societal health.
00:39Uh, we don't need to lose brick and mortar revenue.
00:43There's several other, uh, arguments that they put out, but they are definitely
00:48out and against it at all these hearings.
00:51And now they've put together a group of similar sized regional casino
00:56companies and shoot, including Churchill downs.
00:59Um, there's a few other ones that, uh, that are escaping me at the moment.
01:03Um, but they've all come together and they've put, put together a group.
01:06They just released a study, which you can find on, on legal sports report.com.
01:10We've, we linked to that in the story, um, that kind of outlines why they are
01:14against it and the arguments they make.
01:16Again, a lot of it is the brick and mortar cannibalization, um, of the
01:21revenue, which they argue can also cost plenty of jobs, uh, from the casino
01:26workers.
01:27And so, yeah, this is to, to kind of our point of, of, uh, big headwinds,
01:34you know, having a significant chunk of regional operators who have longstanding
01:39relationships in these legislators going against this issue, um, certainly
01:44does have some weight.
01:45I mean, we just look at Mississippi, which you and I talk about pretty
01:48regularly, trying to go online with sports betting.
01:51And a lot of the opposition there are the locally owned casinos who say, no, we
01:55don't want to lose our, our sports books and our, and our revenue from that, uh,
02:00to major operators that come into the state.
02:02So, you know, it is a, it's a kind of a big deal that this group is emerging and
02:06as fully against the expansion of online gambling.
