00:00The Veneto Project
00:12Spending saves the potential of the space industry in Veneto.
00:19Digital innovation and sustainability,
00:21synergies not yet widespread in the company.
00:25Thanks to the combination of academic excellence,
00:27industrial and manufacturing,
00:29Veneto can aspire to be among the diamonds of Italian space economy.
00:34They support it in the study from the moon to the lagoon,
00:36exploring the future of space economy in Veneto.
00:39The Veni Sustainability Foundation and Boston Consulting Group,
00:43which, starting from the observation of the development of the global aerospace market,
00:47highlight the peculiarities of the third region by PIL,
00:50whose growth potential for space economy is still largely unexpressed.
00:56In 2022, the aerospace and defense sector
00:59has generated 1.1 billion in Veneto,
01:02equivalent to 0.6% of the PIL.
01:05We have built a work done by researchers of the foundation
01:11and the Boston Consulting partner,
01:14together with the participation of a whole group of interested partners,
01:19putting in this study two methods.
01:23On the one hand, studying the characteristics of the success
01:30of the aerospace cluster in different global geographies,
01:36and on the other hand, studying this type of application
01:42on the characteristics of the Veneto entrepreneurial fabric,
01:46involving a series of Veneto companies
01:51that either deal directly with this sector
01:54or have a prospect of what is called a jump of the line.
02:01Through some clear strategies,
02:03such as the strengthening of collaboration between the public and the private sector,
02:06the attraction of government and industrial investments,
02:09and the creation of synergies between universities and industry,
02:12Veneto could move from the current supply of specialized components
02:16to the production of entire space systems,
02:18such as satellites and advanced communication tools,
02:21generating an important impact not only on the PIL, but also on employment.
02:26Within a space economy that we expect will exceed
02:29more than 1,000 billion in value worldwide in the coming years,
02:33for Veneto we see the possibility of reaching
02:36about 5 billion impact on the PIL
02:40and the creation of more than 2,000 high-value jobs.
02:45Digital innovation is an opportunity for sustainable progress in Italy,
02:48a front on which the European Commission has strongly pushed
02:51and in recent years has proposed numerous measures and legislative and strategic plans
02:55in two areas, even if there are 92 initiatives analyzed,
02:58only a minority deals with both sustainability and digital in a joint and strategic way.
03:02Among those dedicated to sustainability,
03:0413% deals with digital as a central element,
03:07while among those focused on digital,
03:0990% sees sustainability as relevant,
03:12but almost exclusively for social and governance issues,
03:15leaving out environmental ones.
03:17These are some of the results of the research of the Digital and Sustainable Observatory
03:21at the Politecnico di Milano in collaboration with ASSO Lombarda.
03:25Based on the analysis of the serious Italian companies on both issues,
03:28the sensitivity is now very high.
03:3084% invests significantly both in digital innovation and in sustainability.
03:35But the synergies between the two dimensions are still little explored.
03:39Only one out of three companies uses digital innovation intensively.
03:43As a tool to pursue sustainable goals,
03:46only one out of four is driven by sustainable development lines
03:49to review the digital adoption policy.
03:52In this process, PMI are behind,
03:54less than a third of the total invests intensely both in digital innovation and in sustainability
03:59and it is very rare a synergy between the two dimensions.
