00:00Stiney Gu, from the 415, no 510, and you weren't here for this Gu and I feel, I feel bad about
00:11it.
00:12Yesterday, Stiney said he was hopeful, and today he's not, lol.
00:16Wow, man.
00:17That's from Angel.
00:18You know, Angel, you're kind of right.
00:21You're kind of right, but I went to the lab.
00:24I went to the lab, Angel.
00:26It's just funny how we all look at this.
00:28I went to the lab and realized there's never been anything close to an NBA champion with
00:38this old of a core three players.
00:43First time for everything.
00:44Like they're 37, 35, and 35.
00:47Let's go, baby.
00:48I'm trying to, I mean, Dallas, oh, how about Dallas in 2011, Dirk, well, Jason K was 37.
00:58Let's go.
00:59Yeah.
01:00Was his role as important as Curry?
01:01Oh, he had a major role.
01:03Dirk was 32, Jason Terry, 33, Butler, Karan Butler, 30, and Marion, 32.
01:11That's considered a very old team, and they're all in the low 30s.
01:18But Stiney, there's a first time for everything.
01:20You've heard that.
01:21But this is too, this is too, it's just too much of a gap.
01:27It's too much has to go right, is the way I feel about it.
01:33Let's go to, but the question we're asking is, now Draymond Green's saying championship.
01:42What, I mean, it feels to me like the expectations have changed.
01:47So what's a successful year now for the Golden State Warriors?
01:51And this is, I think, what a lot of people are with.
01:59Where is it?
02:00Stiney, can I just throw this to you in a hurry?
02:02How old was Tom Brady when he won his Super Bowl, his last Super Bowl?
02:06That's one guy in a football game.
02:08He was almost 50.
02:09He was 43.
02:11I've never heard of a more irrelevant comparison.
02:15That's the most irrelevant comparison I've ever heard of.
02:18Peyton Manning won at 39.
02:20Yeah.
02:21Another irrelevant.
02:22Brady did it at 39.
02:24Yeah.
02:25And how old was Brown?
02:26Elway was 38.
02:28How old was their line?
02:29I knew you were going there.
02:31Just, if you want to hate, you're going to hate.
02:34I'm not saying you're doing that.
02:35I'm not hating.
02:36And if you want to be, my boy Silk Basie, Jimmy Butler took those teams in the weak
02:39ass east.
02:40Like, okay, but it's still a feat.
02:43He took an AC to the finals.
02:45And the conference was weak.
02:49What is Dibb's line?
02:50I don't know.
02:51When do we draw the line in the sand, man?
02:52Oh, in what?
02:53Just everything.
02:54Well, like what?
02:55Like, the possibilities.
02:56The Warriors can, I think they can pull this off.
02:58I no longer am worried about Curry's bilateral knee tendonitis.
03:03He's fresh as a...
03:04Wait till he goes six for 21.
03:06Then you'll be worried about it again.
03:08Oh no, I'm not.
03:09No, you will.
03:10Success this year is wreaking havoc in the playoffs, according to the 707.
03:14Win a round or two.
03:15Yeah, look at him.
03:16I think that's...
03:17Or three.
03:18Like, that, to me, would be something we could talk about.
03:24But talking about making a playoff run when you're not even in the playoffs, I gotta see
03:32it.
03:33Oh, let's go to Joe.
03:34Joe's in Walnut Creek.
03:35Hey, Joe.
03:36So, when we're talking...
03:37How you guys doing?
03:38Doing well, thank you.
03:39When we're talking about...
03:40Alright, good.
03:41Sorry, man.
03:42It's cutting out.
03:43So, when you're talking about a championship of the Warriors right now, I kind of feel
03:48like it's a little bit like Jim Carrey, right?
03:51So, you're saying there's a chance, because even realistically, to say they're gonna win
03:56in the first round, Guru, then you better be at least a five seed, because as a seven
04:03or an eight, you ain't gonna do it.
04:04As a six, you're not gonna do it.
04:06And when you look at the standings and the matchups, they gotta be a five.
04:12So, until they're a five, I'm not even gonna talk about championship or even winning the
04:17first series.
04:18And for that to happen, too much has to fall into place.
04:22That's fair.
04:23You know what I mean?
04:24It's like...
04:25Yeah, it...
04:26What would have to fall into place?
04:27I'll tell you.
04:28You'd have to have Kaminga have this career year, Moody light it up, Steve Kerr not putting
04:34midget ball, you know, small lineups in, and there's just...
04:39And three 35-year-old guys not be injured.
04:43So, all of that would have to fall into play to even think about a five seed.
04:47So, I mean, realistically, if you make the playoffs, great.
04:51It's gonna be fun.
04:52But I don't see them winning unless they can get up to standings.
04:55All right.
04:56Appreciate the call.
04:57Joe.
04:58Yeah, Stani.
04:59And I get that.
05:00And I...
05:02I don't want to use my life as an example, but tell me what you think of this, Mr. Bad
05:07Analogy.
05:08The day before, 2012, the contest came with 95-7 the game.
05:13But if in 2011 we were at the bar having dinner and I said, Stani, I'm gonna be on the radio,
05:18we all would have laughed and been like, Tuesday ain't a spring chicken, you ain't going to
05:23Syracuse School of Broadcasting, you're not.
05:27All you had to do was apply to get into the contest.
05:30But my point is, nobody saw the contest.
05:32The Warriors might not even have a contest.
05:36That's my point.
05:37You never know.
05:38Nobody saw Jimmy Butler and that relationship going toxic.
05:41No, nobody saw that.
05:44Before the season started.
05:45Nobody.
05:46Come on, man.
05:47Going into this season, they knew Butler was going to be a problem.
05:48The only reason we're back and people are excited is what transpired in Miami.
05:55You were the beneficiary of a bad relationship.
05:58Right.
05:59Let's not act as though Jimmy Butler doesn't have a track record of being a malcontent
06:05at times.
06:06And he's got a finals, NBA finals track record.
06:10This is the most comparable team to the Warriors, in terms of age, is the 98 Bulls.
06:19The last year the Bulls won.
06:20I like this.
06:21Jordan was 34.
06:22I like it.
06:23Pippen was 32.
06:24Rodman was 36.
06:27Don't forget they had Kukoc, who was a big part of that team, and he was 29.
06:31So again, that's about as comparable as it gets.
06:3734, 32, and 36 years old.
06:40But again, I think it's a big difference between 35, 35, and 37.
06:45That's just me.
06:46And I know people are driving around, some, the Steinys of the world, and my boy Silk
06:50Basie, because he thinks they have no chance.
06:53But Steiny, Silk Basie, you're poisoning him.
06:57He's turned into you on my mind.
06:58But listen, I get now, and I want to backtrack, I want to do something here, Carter.
07:04So this would stump 2022, just because of the age.
07:10I'm giving you that.
07:11No, because of the facts.
07:13The facts were that that team was a third seed.
07:16The facts were that team won 53 games.
07:18And they were a lot younger.
07:19The facts were, at one point in the season, they were 41 and 14 at this point during that
07:26season.
07:27And now they're 500.
07:28This would be, I wouldn't even, this'll make, this'll make 2022 look like they were favorites.
07:35To my way of thinking, seriously.
07:37Well, I get to come from seven, like from seven.
07:40But starting to be fair, the Jimmy impact, you know, there, he wasn't even a factor of
07:47how they compiled this, this Stinky record.
07:51He's only played four games.
07:52You know what I mean?
07:53I get, it's not like he's been there the whole year and then they got off the mat.
07:58He's kind of, you know what I mean?
07:59It was, oh, we got some help and let's go.
08:02No, I, there's no doubt that he's changed the mindset of the Warriors and probably Warrior
08:09fans and players.
08:14That's why we're talking about this.
08:15That's true.
08:16It is.
08:17Stan Van Gundy was on with Willard and Dibbs, Martinez's finest.
08:22And can they win it all, Stan?
08:26You're a basketball person.
08:28Yeah.
08:29Well, look, I mean, it's a, it's a great move up and I think Mike Bundley, he did an outstanding
08:36job making that move without giving up any of their young players.
08:41So I think everybody in San Francisco has got the right to, uh, to be excited.
08:48Do I think it makes them a contender with Oklahoma City, Memphis, the Lakers, Houston?
08:56No, I don't.
08:57But, but it's a step up and they certainly, I think, would have a chance to get into playoffs
09:02and win a series.
09:03All right.
09:04And that would, I would have roses.
09:07Wouldn't be happy.
09:08I'd come in mad.
09:09I don't know whoever sent him home, but again, I just hate to do this to your partner and
09:14I know it's not the day, but that I feel like I now know why the Warriors, I don't even,
09:21I won't dare say unwillingly gave Butler that two-year extension signing because they feel
09:25like he has enough basketball left, Curry too.
09:29They also had to, otherwise he wasn't going to come.
09:32Little bit of that.
09:33But you know what I mean, man?
09:35Let's go to Anthony and Brentwood.
09:37Our man.
09:38Hey, Ant.
09:40All right.
09:41Good afternoon.
09:42Almost afternoon.
09:43Um, so I have maybe two things, one, and this is just kind of a personal thing.
09:49I really don't take much of what Draymond Green said seriously.
09:53Um, I understand that he's been a contributor to the championships, but after he punched
10:00pool, I just really looked, I really just had like, it just changed my view of him and
10:05the way that he, you know, the way the kind of leader that he is.
10:09I don't think it's very productive.
10:11And so, um, that's just my personal thing.
10:13So when he says stuff, I kind of shrug it off.
10:15I also believe that he was just saying things to kind of stir the pot.
10:19And I do believe that most folks, including myself and in that organization believe that
10:25their chances have become greater to compete, but I do not believe that there, we are close
10:32to winning a championship.
10:34And I have two reasons before that one.
10:36I don't think Steve Kerr really trust the young talent.
10:41I believe that sometimes like he kind of prioritizes for Jim ski over pods.
10:47And you know, he, um, you said put Jim's over pods, which I mean, if you ever Moody, Jim
10:53ski over Moody, like when you look at the Jim ski, he does, he, he jumps out on the
10:58screen, but Moody also does things.
11:01He's just not as like aggressive in his demeanor.
11:04So like pods will look like he's a little bit more, you know, more of a impactful player,
11:09but I think they're both really, really even.
11:10And then you got, you know, the, the, the stretch five, he's getting more run than TJD,
11:16but TJD he's been somewhat impactful on the defensive end.
11:20And so I feel like what we need to do as just, uh, as a, as a unit is kind of, I think Steve
11:27Kerr really needs to narrow down who he trusts and who he wants to move forward to forward
11:32with.
11:33And I think once he gets that figured out, then I think next year we can really truly
11:37expect some things and expect them to make noise in the playoffs because right now we
11:41have our three, but the other, you know, the others is kind of a mixed bag.
11:47And I think that comes with a Steve Kerr really figuring out who he can trust, who he wants
11:52to keep around and then going out there in the free agent market and getting some quality
11:56guys on some lesser contracts and really putting a solid effort to go for next season.
12:02So I think this season we should just be working on kind of continuity and figuring
12:06out who's coming along with us on this ride.
12:08Good stuff, Ant.
12:10Appreciate it, man.
12:11The two things I like, here's, you know, what strikes me as, as, uh, I don't illogical.
12:21No, maybe, maybe it is illogical, but the, I like think about this for a minute.
12:28The idea we're talking about a tense, like the idea of a 10 seed.
12:38We're going to win.
12:39We're going to win the championship.
12:40You don't even know the match-ups like you don't even know who you're going to have to
12:45play, but now you're not afraid of anybody, please.
12:50You're okay.
12:51You want Denver in the first round?
12:53I'm not saying I want Denver, but I'm not afraid of Denver.
12:56It doesn't matter if you're afraid or not.
12:57Minnesota exposed them last year.
12:59I don't know.
13:00And maybe they're back and they fix what, what hurt them.
13:02My thing is, you're saying they can win a title.
13:04You don't even, you don't even, we don't even know the match-ups.
13:06But we looked at the field and I'm dreaming of what if you got locked up with the, and
13:11that pedigree word, the word that I keep just, I'm dying on that hill, Stony.
13:15The playoffs are when they're going to be able to, to use it, right?
13:19That's when you're going to be up the big bottle.
13:21So I'm just telling you, I'm perplexed as to, you're right.
13:26They are what they are, Tempsey right now, but now that the trade has come and you got
13:30the Joan Rivers, you got a whole new facelift, Stony.
13:34This is not the team that accumulated this record for much of the time to be your traditional
13:40Tempsey.
13:41So when it's all four games, four games has given people the confidence that they can
13:47beat anybody and go four rounds to win a title, four games.
13:52I got to be careful.
13:53Okay.
13:54It was just the fact that when the news was announced, a guy like Jimmy Butler, I'll put
14:00him in the category of Durant.
14:01I'm just doing that.
14:02I can't.
14:03Stony, the, the possibilities right then to me became endless.
14:07And it's more than just the three and one, because we could poke holes in the three and
14:11one.
14:12You're down 24 to the Bulls, but that was your first game with your new toy, but you
14:14still came back and won the game.
14:16You tricked the game off against Dallas.
14:18So it hasn't been.
14:19They beat everybody by 30.
14:20The bottom line is it's go time now, but when it's really, really go time, I feel like the
14:26fact that you got a closer, that's what we know Jimmy Butler is.
14:30Will it work and translate with Steph and Trey?
14:34They, this team needed somebody and we all saw it, right?
14:40And the guy that got them and now they can win it all with one guy.
14:46One player.
14:47Okay.
14:48This is it.
14:49One player.
14:50Are the Golden State Warriors better after the acquisition?
14:51No doubt.
14:52And that's it.
14:53No doubt.
14:54That right there is the premise.
14:55Let's do that.
14:56That's the tree.
14:57Let's do that.
14:58Now the trunks are right.
14:59Okay.
15:00Let's do that.
15:01There are nine seed.
15:02They're better.
15:03Can they get to six to play the third seed?
15:04I think they can.
15:05Okay.
15:06Fine.
15:07Just don't go to NBA title right now.
15:08You got to tell Draymond and Jimmy that I'm telling them.
15:11And now they've wound up the fan base.
15:14Yeah.
15:15And, you know, that's the other thing.
15:19Nobody wants to play the Warriors.
15:22That doesn't mean anything.
15:24And that doesn't win you a series just because they don't want to play you.
15:29Let's just, I'm going to introduce, on the fly, Evan, a new segment to you.
15:33Sit down time with Stiney.
15:35I think you are really, really underestimating the bump that they're going to get once Jonathan
15:41Kaminga is re-evaluated.
15:42I don't think Kaminga is a factor.
15:44Stiney, how can you say that?
15:47Because his talent is going to be much less than it was before he got the injury.
15:54He's now got two alphas, but he's got to play either with or be the number one when they're
16:00not on the court.
16:02I'm not going to fight you on if it's bigger or lesser.
16:05My question is, can you master whatever his role is going to be?
16:09I'm not convinced they can.
16:10I'm telling you, Stiney, he's going to be the first man off the bench if he's not starting.
16:14I'd like him to be starting.
16:16But see, I'm going there, and I feel like you're kind of ho-hum about, oh, we're getting
16:20Kaminga back.
16:21But Stiney, this is your young stud.
16:24This is your young 22-year-old Kawhi.
16:27He's not as good as Kawhi was then.
16:29But my point is, now he's going to learn from Butler, along with learning from Steph and
16:34Dre.
16:35Like, this has the ingredients for...
16:38I hate when you do that.
16:39I know you do.
16:40I hate when you do that.
16:41You gotta lose that.
16:42It's my new ha-ha.
16:43But Stiney, it's...
16:44Another ha-ha.
16:45Come on, get on board.
16:46Kaminga cannot be bad.
16:49They can just...
16:50Guru.
16:51And they are going to be better, man.
16:52Guru, you think he's going to start.
16:53He's not.
16:54And also, the second part of that is, again, I look at things realistically.
17:01I don't even know what his role's going to be with Steve Kerr.
17:04But there's a need for his role.
17:07For four years, we've had fans complaining about, he doesn't play Kaminga.
17:12He relies on the veterans.
17:14What do you think he's going to do as you climb the standings, and as you start playing
17:18bigger and bigger and bigger games, and he's going to be looking at Kaminga.
17:23And I think if I know Steve Kerr, he's going to be like, I just can't trust him right now.
17:27So, you're...
17:28Okay.
17:29To that point.
17:30I'm not saying that's going to happen, but I allow for it because that's been the track
17:35record for four years with Kaminga.
17:37And it was the track record all of this season.
17:39He started on the bench.
17:40Then he started.
17:41But hold on, though.
17:42Then he went back to the bench.
17:43Yeah.
17:44But you're omitting something.
17:45Kerr said, we need Kaminga.
17:46Well, they don't.
17:47Curry said it.
17:48They don't as much now.
17:49Draymond said it.
17:50They don't.
17:51Now they don't.
17:52Yeah, but you're not too talented to where you can sit here, and I'm not saying you're
17:57doing it, and scoff and say, you don't need Kaminga.
18:00I think there's more added is baby pressure on Kerr to...
18:05What we know about Kaminga, Stani, is his ass is talented.
18:08So, Kerr, you got to find a way to make it work now.
18:12Like, there's nothing bad about trying to incorporate Kaminga.
18:17And Stani, I think his basketball will be the easiest basketball now ever because now,
18:23if you're right, he's been bumped down just a spot.
18:26Stani, he can pick anybody up 94 feet.
18:29He's got those legs.
18:31He's got the birth certificate going his way.
18:32Like, I'm ultra excited about him.
18:35You know what's funny?
18:36When I think of the Warriors, and yesterday, I'm thinking about the Warriors.
18:40Could they?
18:41Even when I let my imagination run wild, I don't factor in Kaminga.
18:48Why?
18:49Because I don't feel like he's going to be huge for this team.
18:54I just don't.
18:56I think his role is unknown.
19:02It is completely unknown.
19:06Ask me who I think the Warriors' best perimeter defender is.
19:09Right now.
19:10Who?
19:11Kaminga.
19:12Okay.
19:13And you lost something.
19:14He's their worst help defender.
19:15You know what?
19:16Okay, no doubt.
19:17And I don't...
19:18But come on, Stani.
19:19You know what?
19:20Miss me with Kaminga's a good defender.
19:21Stop it.
19:22I got one for you.
19:23Just because you shadow a guy up the court doesn't mean that he can hound somebody for
19:2748 minutes.
19:28I love this point I'm about to make, Stani.
19:30When you talk about a traditional big three, you're usually talking about three guys that
19:34could put the ball in the hole.
19:36The one beautiful thing about Draymond is he's a part of the big three, but Stani, scoring
19:40is not his forte.
19:42My point is, they're going to need Jonathan Kaminga's 16, 17, maybe on a given night,
19:4923, 24 points.
19:51It's almost perfect for him to come back and fit.
19:54That part of the formula, to me, is not thrown off, because Dray's not a point monster.
20:00They're still going to need other guys to help them get there.
20:03If somebody wrote this on the YouTube chat, I forget, Stani, do you think the role players
20:08now are better than the ones in 2022?
20:10Yes.
20:11Because this person doesn't?
20:12Absolutely.
20:13So currently...
20:142022 was better.
20:15Oh, wow.
20:16Because at least you knew what to expect with those guys.
20:17They were veterans.
20:18They were solid.
20:21We got young players that have never played in the postseason.
20:23I don't even know how they're going to do.
20:24They might have some growing pains with it.
20:29Again, and please, please, please, I'm not devaluing Kaminga.
20:34I'm not even hating on Kaminga.
20:36I'm just pointing out to Warrior fans that we've been through this now for four years
20:42with Kaminga, and I need to see what his role's going to be coming back, and whether Kerr's
20:49going to figure out a way to maximize it, because he's going to have to if they really
20:53do want to go anywhere.
20:55But I don't just automatically think that's going to happen.
20:59Why?
21:01It might, but they still got to fit together as a team.
21:06They still got to find out the rotation.
21:08They still got to figure out the minutes.
21:15Again, I'm not convinced that Kerr's just going to start going to Kaminga.
21:21The other thing is, how long's he been out?
21:24Man, it feels like three months.
21:26He's got to be out for six, so it's going to be like two months, right?
21:30That's the other thing.
21:31He's going to need a little time to get back and adjusted.
21:33Those are facts.
21:34All right, 888-957-9570, I see people on hold.
21:40We will absolutely, positively get to you on the other side.
21:44I'll tell you what, here's what I'm going to tease, because it's not, I'm not hating.
21:52I just don't see it right now, but I will say this.
21:57For all you people out there that think I never say I'm wrong about something, yeah,
22:03I'm surprised nobody's called me out on that.
