00:00Right now we are starting in Norfolk, VA once again, where it has been a cold and blustery day with heavy, heavy snowfall ongoing.
00:07Yeah, AccuOthers, Allie Reed is there right now. And Allie, I know you've been giving us a tour of kind of the general area.
00:14You just got back to Norfolk. What was the drive like, especially?
00:22It's rough, Anna, to say the least.
00:24Everywhere we go, we see people that are getting stuck on major roadways.
00:28They're not able to cross bridges or, again, those tunnel areas.
00:33Really, and that is what the entire Hampton Roads area, the region is made up of.
00:38So a lot of these smaller cars, now even SUVs we've seen on the roads, have been having a hard time getting from one place to the next.
00:47Take a look at this video.
00:48This was within the last 20 minutes for you guys, just to give you a perspective of what it's looking like in this area right now.
00:54We've seen countless people helping others, getting out of their own vehicles to try and push them up onto hills or, again, these roadways.
01:03They've been having a difficult time.
01:05And because of that, police, other crews, agencies, entities are having to shut down some of these roads to cater to these situations.
01:14This has been going on for hours, by the way.
01:17This started the second the snow started coming down here in this area.
01:21And I think simply because these residents here are not used to this type of snowfall.
01:27We've spoken to other people who have said, you know, if we end up getting anywhere from 9 to 12 inches of snow, potentially up to a foot of snow, that is something that this area has not seen for 9, 10 plus years.
01:42So this is very unusual for this area.
01:44Let's talk about the snow.
01:46The snow that's coming down is really, really nice.
01:48It's that beautiful, picturesque type snow.
01:50It's the type of snow that's going to be great ahead of tomorrow for those kids in this area that aren't having to go to school.
01:57School across the entire state of Virginia pretty much has been canceled for tomorrow.
02:01Surrounding states as well.
02:03We're going to see a lot of sledding tomorrow.
02:05We're going to see a lot of snowball making.
02:07Perfect type of snow.
02:08Perfect type of conditions for that.
02:11The nice thing is, is that we aren't seeing really wet, icy type of snow, which is good because we aren't seeing a ton of major accidents in regards to that.
02:22But I know a lot of people are talking ahead of tomorrow.
02:25There is the possibility that there could be some snow squalls, which is that snow mixed with windy, gusty wind at time.
02:33That could be a problem for morning commute tomorrow.
02:36Hopefully, most people are going to be staying home.
02:38But that's something we're going to be keeping an eye on as I'll be live tomorrow morning.
02:41Again, let's show you.
02:45Leading on to I-64, which is a popular area.
02:50Lots of issues all up and down the interstates in this area.
02:55And, of course, that's going to continue over the next couple of hours here.
02:59We've been talking about that snowfall.
03:01Just dumping tons of snow every hour.
03:05We are getting close, if we haven't passed it already, the 4-inch mark here in Hampton Roads.
03:12And that will continue through the evening and into tomorrow morning.
03:16Guys, this is my last hit tonight.
03:18I'll be back tomorrow morning to walk you through hour by hour, I believe starting at maybe 7 a.m., to show you what the conditions are like tomorrow.
03:25And I think it's going to look like a winter wonderland here, guys.
03:30Absolutely. 4 inches, that's a lot. It's pretty impressive.
03:32For Virginia, yeah.
03:34Thank you for the update, Ali.
03:36And definitely, everyone, tune in to AccuWeather early and see how things are going then.
