Big news for gig workers in India! Budget 2025 just made a groundbreaking move—1 crore gig workers will now get health insurance under the Ayushman Bharat scheme! That’s ₹5 lakh in healthcare coverage every year for hospitalization, including secondary and tertiary care.

Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman confirmed that workers in food delivery, e-commerce, and similar sectors will benefit from this initiative. But there’s a catch—gig workers must register on the e-Shram portal and obtain their UAN (Universal Account Number) to claim this coverage.

While this is a huge step forward, there’s one challenge: companies must share worker data with the government to ensure benefits reach those who need them. Will this rollout be smooth, or will gig workers face more hurdles? Stay tuned for updates!
