00:00The government has allocated RM20 million for the development of 8 types of fishing boats

00:17The 8 types of fishing boats are selected, including snorkelling, swimming, badminton,

00:23We often get complaints about why only badminton receives a lot of government funding
00:29in the form of financial support, but other Olympic sports do not.
00:35So, after we look at the budget we have under the National Sports Council for NHDP,
00:41NFDP, NNDP and NRDP, rugby, netball, hockey and football,
00:53we have decided to bid to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to ask for money for the same talent development
01:01as the NHDP, but for the 8 Olympic fishing boats that we have selected.
01:08The 8 Olympic fishing boats have talent and potential, because when we go to the Olympics
01:14we see a lot of junior athletes who go, but due to lack of funds and exposure,
01:21they do not feel confident.
01:23The podium program alone is not enough, because I am worried that we will be short of athletes.
01:31To address this problem, we have given RM20 million.
01:36This RM20 million is for talent development, to identify talents at all levels,
01:44to be sent for competition and to be trained as a coach.
01:49From a big coach, you will get a bigger group of elite athletes.
01:55That is our desire.
01:57Is this RM20 million enough? Of course not.
02:00But it is better than nothing.
02:02Before this, it was empty.
02:04But now with this RM20 million, we want more competition to give exposure to our athletes.
02:12Hena was met after the inauguration of the Olympic Fishing Development Program at Ibu Negara on Thursday.
02:18The order will not be distributed equally to the 8 boats due to the need for each boat to be different.
02:24Two other boats, Angkat Berat and Menembak Kili, will be included in the program.
