00:00Labor continued its high-vis theme, this time at a steel fabrication plant in Forrestfield.
00:09Announcing plans to grow the industry by setting up two plants to build power lines and towers
00:14locally to enable the green energy transition.
00:18One in Forrestfield and one in Picton, just outside Bunbury, to create thousands of jobs
00:23for the future and to make more things here.
00:26$75 million committed to get the ball rolling, but that could grow if the sector needs more
00:32support.
00:33We'll work with industry and we will look at what is in the best value and the best
00:38circumstances for the state.
00:40The Liberal's promising to introduce laws to tackle elder abuse and implement a judicial
00:44commission to handle complaints against judges.
00:48Labor says it's already committed to a judicial commission and that elder abuse laws are being
00:53reviewed.
00:54Labor had promised to introduce elder abuse laws about a decade ago and despite the dominance
01:02of two houses of parliament, have failed to do so.
01:06The Law Society has been calling for these changes for a number of years now and we see
01:10advantage in the judicial commission in the sense that it will deal with complaints in
01:15a clear, transparent way.
01:18But the Leader spent much of her media conference defending her candidates, including one who
01:22made derogatory social media posts about women a decade ago.
01:27Candidates like many people across the community make mistakes and it is regrettable.
01:33It wasn't just candidate controversies continuing to distract the Liberals with Labor keeping
01:37the pressure on over election costings, demanding the party reveal who's doing their sums and
01:43what cuts they plan to make.
01:45We will be announcing and releasing our costings in the usual manner.
01:49The usual practice from my understanding is in the last week of the campaign and that's
01:54what we'll be doing.
01:55More people are voting early so that practice needs to change.
01:59Early voting begins across the state on Monday.
