00:00I'm Jay Goddard, 5th Generation Family Custodian of Board Hill and Managing Director and I'm so
00:06delighted to welcome you. We've got a really exciting season ahead of us and we opened the
00:10doors to visitors for the new season last weekend. We're currently in half term so we've got a really
00:15wonderful children's trail at the moment, Wilbur's Wild Welly Walk, which runs all the way until the
00:20end of March. From a garden colour perspective we've got a beautiful display of Narcissi
00:26both along our North Park Walk but also just outside the Africa House, which is the glass
00:31house that we're standing in, displayed in heritage terracotta pots as well. The Africa
00:38House itself has a beautiful display by local Sussex artists of the art of spring, so really
00:44celebrating the floral colour that's about to pop and burst into life within the garden itself.
00:57So
01:12new season, I'm personally looking forward to an exciting calendar of events. We've got many
01:17new workshops and events planned for the season as well as some timeless classics, for example
01:23our Plant Fair on the 11th of May is hugely popular with our visitors and our members.
01:29We also have Opera on the Lawn in the summer and Lumos Live, which was a new event for last year
01:34that's returning for this summer as well. But arguably our most exciting news for the season is
01:39that we have a new chef partner, Chantal Nicholson. She's a leading London chef who's actually
01:45relocated to Sussex now and she's working with us to launch a whole range of new restaurants
01:51and eateries at Bordhill, starting with a micro bakery in the garden that will open in time for
01:56Easter. At the start of the journey, start of the season, it's so wonderful just to see those first
02:01glimpses of colour and of spring flowering across the garden. So little daffodils in our society
02:09are just peaking out, the camellias are starting to show, the rhododendrons will be out in the
02:14next few weeks as well as the magnolias. So Bordhill actually has its national collection
02:19status holder for its rhododendron collection and we have champion magnolias across the garden
02:25and wider landscape as well. So it's such an exciting time with lots of colour about to show.
