00:00Charlie, Birmingham City off to Wembley, an amazing occasion for them and first time since
00:06that incredible League Cup win over Arsenal all those years ago. I mean, this is a real
00:13nice thing to have when you have new owners and this sort of marks how far they've come.
00:19Maybe I know it's only a trophy that they probably will never want to be competing in
00:22again for the foreseeable, but the prospect of a Wembley trip for any team is always fantastic,
00:29especially if you haven't been there in such a long time. Firstly, just what does this
00:34mean for them? You know, we spoke about it before, the prospect of a couple of trophies
00:38rather than just the Ligue 1 trophy come the end of the season. I mean, this is a big occasion
00:43for Blues fans and something certainly they can be excited about.
00:47Absolutely, and you could sense that excitement within St Andrews the other night. It's a
00:53very late, dramatic win as well. Lyndon Dyke scoring the 88th minute, a fantastic header
00:57from Otamoki Iwata-Cross. I've not really seen St Andrews bouncing like that ever since
01:02I've been there and I've seen some incredible atmospheres. The keep right on, the rendition
01:06before the game, after the game, amazing as well. The forever true by U2 as well, blaring
01:11out through the speakers. Chris Davies said as well that it was the best atmosphere he's
01:15experienced from Blues fans and he's also admitted that it's probably the pinnacle of
01:20his career. He's been to Wembley many times, he's been promoted in the playoffs with Swansea,
01:24he's won the FA Cup with Leicester City, both as an assistant. He went there with Liverpool
01:29in the semi-final of the FA Cup against Aston Villa about a decade or so ago. So he knows
01:34what it's like, but being a manager, it just gives that extra feeling for him. So he's
01:39got the excitement and I think the whole squad as well, just having that extra focus this
01:43season. Not the Ligue 1's easy, but you'd always expect them to go and win that. To
01:48have something like a domestic competition, it might not be one of the biggest, like the
01:51FA Cup or the Carabao Cup, but it does add that extra layer. And then the trip to Wembley,
01:57I mean, what a day out that's going to be. You mentioned the 2011 Ligue Cup win over
02:02Arsenal, definitely not of that scale, but just having those memories to create, it adds
02:07an extra layer, doesn't it? And really helps the morale. So very exciting day for them,
02:12but still two months away yet.
02:13Yeah, obviously, you know, how important is it that they also remain that focus on the
02:19Ligue 1 title? It looks like they are going to be pressing and I'm sure the answer will
02:23suggest that it's highly in their hands at the moment. That's also another fantastic
02:27step forward in the right direction for these new owners and the fans to get behind this
02:32new project as well, if they are to go and win the Ligue 1 trophy.
02:36Yeah, focus is paramount and they might well be six or so points clear with a couple of
02:41games in hand on those challenging them. Wickham might have fallen away now, it might only
02:45be Wickham that are challenging them for the first place, but they need to keep that
02:51focus going. They can't be complacent, they can't let that slip in. They need to get wins
02:55here and there and Davies sees them every single game now as a cup final. The more wins
03:00they get sooner rather than later, the quicker they can secure promotion, the quicker they
03:03can try and get that title and then they can really focus on that game at Wembley.
