00:00Right, so what's the story with this new venue?
00:06So this is Billy Rocks, so it's Preston's new competitive socialising and sports venue
00:11as well.
00:12So we've got Axe throwing, digital darts and loads of unique games.
00:15So when you come into Billy Rocks, you'll see it's all themed around certain aspects
00:19of we've brought blockbusters back, we've got our own laundry mat.
00:22You've just got to go and see it in person, it's going to be a truly amazing place.
00:27What are you most excited about when this place opens?
00:30I think it's just giving Preston something a little bit different.
00:34We've seen the kind of people just wanting to go out just to have a drink, so we're kind
00:37of adding that games element to a good night out and we've already seen people book our
00:43Axe throwing and digital darts, so it's definitely something new for the area.
00:47In terms of the Axe throwing, what was the process to decide all of the different games
00:53happening here?
00:54Because you see pubs with pool and darts and Axe throwing is a little bit more unusual,
00:59so what was the thought process behind that?
01:01Yeah, so one of the owners here, we do go over to America to look at new ventures and
01:06obviously stuff new technology sends to land there first before anything else, so there's
01:11a massive demand for it and just for the North West at the moment there wasn't a lot, so
01:16we're looking to bring that into the city.
01:18So obviously there's also sport on TV and that kind of thing happening here, is this
01:22a venue that you want to have something for everybody at?
01:25Yeah, so we call it a beer hall and ballroom, so you can still come in, you can walk in
01:29for free, have a drink, watch some sport, so we've got Sky Sports going in, watch the
01:33darts, obviously a lot going on, everyone's loving the darts at the moment, so you're
01:37more than welcome to come in and visit and have fun, we've got our bottomless cocktails
01:41on a Saturday as well, so really trying to cater for everyone and keeping it all under
01:45one roof.
01:46So this is also sharing a plot with Switch?
01:48Yes.
01:50It's a family friendly club isn't it?
01:51How's that working with you two sharing the space in this venue?
01:55Yeah, so we're going to be operating at slightly different times, there is a little bit of
01:59an overlap at the weekends, but this is going to be more your family party environment,
02:04so children allowed in until 6 o'clock, so we're going to be trading Wednesday to
02:09Sunday, so you can come in all those days and vote for the family.
02:14So like you say, this is somewhere that's going to be completely all ages family friendly?
02:18Yeah, up until 6 o'clock on those days, and then Switch is catering for it's own
02:23clientele afterwards, so you're more than welcome to come in here, and obviously as
02:26we close for the night, Switch will be open on Fridays and Saturdays.
02:30So what have you been doing to market this new place and get the word out about it?
02:34Obviously speaking to you guys at the LEP, did really well, so we have multiple venues
02:39in Preston, with Molly O'Malley's, worked really well, and just encouraging people to
02:44So we've got our 50% off your first drinks offer, which is running tonight for opening
02:49night, and just directing people to the website, and everyone seems to be finding it on Google,
02:54because these are unique things, people are now searching for Axe Throw in Preston, we
02:58are now coming up on Google, so quite easy to find, even though we're not open yet,
03:02so that's all good.
03:03And how excited are you overall just to see this place in full swing tonight?
03:08Oh, amazing, so I'm kind of booked off the night to be here myself, I'm usually
03:12in the office typing away, but yeah, just looking at the bookings we've got in, we've
03:16got people coming in from when we open at 6 o'clock, and watching people get competitive,
03:21but have a good time, it's really fun to watch when you're not part of that group, so yeah
03:26looking forward to having some amazing positive times with people.
03:29And finally, what would you say to somebody considering coming here and spending the night
03:33here?
03:34Well, it's something that's just completely different, so coming into Preston at the moment,
03:38everyone is investing in the city, which we really love, and we just want to be a part
03:43of that, so if you want to come to Billy Rocks and have a good time, make sure you're down
