00:51imposition.
00:52The sign board in question was repainted after the railway officials were alerted and a case
00:57has been registered and a probe also is underway.
01:04So in the latest flash point coming in from Tamil Nadu, language war is escalating in the
01:08state wherein the state is seeing a lot of pushback when it comes to the Hindi language.
01:13So as you can see Hindi letters are being covered with black paint.
01:17Incident happened at Polachi Junction Railway Station with DMK cadres opposing the three-language
01:22policy.
01:23The sign board was repainted after the railway officials were alerted.
01:27My colleague Pramod is joining us on the phone line with more details.
01:31Pramod, give us more details on what exactly happened here.
01:34Who are these people who are painting Hindi letters on this sign board at the Polachi
01:39Junction Railway Station?
01:40Certainly Chetna, this issue of language war is really happening in the state Tamil Nadu
01:46for the past two weeks with the initiation of the three-language policy and the Samagraha
01:50Siksha issue.
01:51And what's happening is that this was an earlier practice of showing protest against
01:55how DMK coins is as the Hindi imposition and what happens is that DMK and its allied party
02:01members will generally go ahead and mask off the Hindi letters and various sign boards
02:07with black ink.
02:08And that's what they have done once again.
02:09And this particular team has been identified as Spindle, who is one of the former district
02:14members from Polachi along with his associates, who had gone ahead and done so.
02:19Coincidentally, almost last week, Kanimori, the DMK MP, also posted a tweet showing her
02:25father, the former DMK Patriarch, Karnavidhi, doing the same thing to a sign board.
02:30And in a way, DMK members are showing their opposition, as the Chief Minister M.K Stalin
02:34and the DMK President Patriarch M.K Stalin says, that Hindi is being imposed in the form
02:39of a three-language policy, Chetna.
02:42Absolutely, Pramod.
02:43Thanks for bringing us those details on that story.
02:49A political face-off over the national education policies escalating in Tamil Nadu.
02:54The national education policy remains a major point of contention in the state with the
02:58state's DMK-led government headed by Chief Minister M.K Stalin and the centre locked
03:03in a heated dispute.
03:05In his stand against the policies intensifying, Chief Minister Stalin accused the centre of
03:09withholding funds meant for schools in Tamil Nadu as retaliation for the state's rejection
03:14of the policy.
03:16Amidst the ongoing standoff between the centre and the state government, actor-turned-politician
03:20Kamal Haasan has issued a strong warning to the centre, underscoring the importance of
03:25language and culture for the millions.
04:16Some
04:45political parties still want to divide our country only based on language, language and
04:49language.
04:50Of course, for everybody, mother tongue is important.
04:52And there is this very famous saying, Mahakavi Bharati called Tamil as the greatest language.
04:59He called Tamil as the greatest language after knowing more than 10 languages.
05:04So it is important people should study more languages.
05:06The new education policy talks about three languages, where the medium of instruction
05:10will be in your mother tongue till class five and up to class eight, priority will be given
05:14for mother tongue.
05:15Then English is one medium of instruction.
05:18Then one among the Indian language, you make an effort to study as a language.
05:23It could be any of the language, Tamil Nadu, it could be any of the Trividian other languages
05:26also.
05:27And political parties are unnecessarily making controversy.
05:29I don't think people of Tamil Nadu are accepting the DMK or any other political party viewpoint.
