00:00Miami heat. They lose last night to the Atlanta Hawks. Amy Oliver joined us earlier. She tried
00:05to make us feel better. If you guys missed that, we'll bring that to you later on next
00:08hour. Uh, somebody asked me on social media, Leroy, cause I was whining about something
00:18and it's really nothing in particular, but I have to know something with Eric Spolster.
00:22Okay. I do feel like people always say, what are you going to call out? Spo? I feel like
00:27I have, I feel like this is the most blame that the fans have been going at Spo for a
00:32while exposed, taking his criticism. He obviously lost in that game against Detroit. Uh, some
00:38of the rotation hasn't made sense. You were talking about that, like trying to make heads
00:43or tails of it, right? Yeah. I just, I just get like in his efforts to make, to get a
00:51rotation. It just seems like they get in these ruts during games. Cause he's trying
00:57to figure out right. What rotation to use. And that's why I've always said he kind of
01:06does better when he only has eight guys. Cause there's nothing to think about as far as rotation.
01:11Well, you know what the funny thing is, it's definitely been a different year. Cause I
01:14even feel like Eric Spolstra has been just going through it with the whole Jimmy thing.
01:19And he was like, you know, he basically was like, I love it. I love that. I went through
01:23that and I was like, this guy is insane. He is a maniac, but he has some principles like
01:28as a coach that just don't, you know, they don't make sense. You know, like Greg Povich
01:34one said, he's like, I hate the three pointer, right? I hate the three pointer added to our
01:38game, but that didn't stop him from making the 2014 Spurs.
01:42One of the most beautiful teams in terms of moving it and mastering the three ball. Right.
01:47I'm tired of hearing when the team scores eight points that they need to pick it up
01:51on defense. Right. And so no, there was this dude, there was, but he has this thing that
02:00he's just, he's patently against, right? He pulls the Tobin. So he, he goes fruit Ninja
02:07with the words so that you think he has a grip on it. Right. Right. And then he responds
02:14by saying, no, we got to be better on the defensive end. I'm like, no, but he has this
02:19thing that he doesn't believe in. And it drives me nuts, which is playing young guys. No,
02:27he refuses to use his challenge. Oh, refuses to use his challenge. It almost seems like
02:34he feels that he, those guys that use those challenges are beneath him.
02:39Soft. Yeah. I think he uses challenges are soft. And like yesterday, like doc rivers,
02:46he used a challenge, which it didn't work because was it Gary Trent who I think put
02:53Andrew Wiggins at a Camorra lock while he shot a three ball. Yeah. But like he used
02:58it, it would have been a big momentum swing. And what do you know? It eventually like swung
03:03back the way for the Milwaukee bucks. Now, I don't know if it mattered that he used the
03:08challenge doc. Do you think that the challenge, even though it went against you worked, you
03:13know, I live by this one basic rule and that is, you can't use your time house tomorrow.
03:22Exactly. So all these coaches out there that are saving timeouts and then lose by 10, would
03:31you go and put those that you're going to go get a meal with those timeouts? No. So
03:35if you got an opportunity to maybe keep the ball and use a timeout, then go ahead, take
03:42a, take a hand. Guess what? It usually comes at a time where you can use a timeout anyway.
03:48So it's not like the time out is wasted. You can still talk to your guys. Like, is that
03:54any different than calling three seconds into the game? No. You might as well use a challenge.
04:02I'm trying to figure it out because like yesterday, this Damian Lillard was flopping
04:07like a fish, dude, flopping like a fish on Wiggins. And I'm like, please use your challenge
04:13spo please. Like it was so blatant. Thank you. Newport's doc. It was so blatant. I'm
04:25like, please spell, please use it. And he goes, nah, not using it. Just puts it in his
04:31back pocket. And I just want to know what is he doing at the end of the year with all
04:35these challenges that he saved? Cause he never uses them. Never. So that's just one of the
04:42things that I wonder with him. I don't understand why Eric Spolster is sitting here and he goes,
04:47not the time. It feels to me like he's legitimately saving it every cause he, if you win, you
04:53get it back. But he's so terrified of losing it, even though he's never going to use it,
04:59he's terrified to use it or he just doesn't believe in it. So he doesn't believe in it.
05:03We should have a sign at the end of a game, two timeouts left. Yeah. I'm going to do with
05:11him. We've gotten to a point this year where Eric Spolster, he's literally got to have
05:17200, say over his career, 275 timeouts. How many challenges has Eric Spolster not used?
05:25Maybe he's so terrified because of what happened to Detroit. He's like, I'm not wasting any of my
05:28timeouts. Can't risk them. We got one coach in town because maybe, maybe we got one coach in
05:37town and Mike McDaniel who can't wait to challenge and always get it wrong. And then we have Eric
05:42Spolster who will never challenge whether he will definitely be right. Maybe he can send one up to
05:48a hard rock is that, Hey, Hey, Mike, Mike, you're terrible at this here. I'm a transfer. I'm,
05:56I'm a sell you a couple of timeouts. You can use them next week.
06:00So we also have Paul Maurice who gets every challenge, right?
06:02Right. And then Paul Maurice yesterday is calling out the visuals and he's like,
06:06I wouldn't have challenged it. And he's like, I guess he knows more than I do. Cause he,
06:10I wouldn't have challenged it on the goalie interference. But yeah, like, I think Mike
06:14McDaniel, like you think he, that he ever talks to Eric Spolster and he goes, I just,
06:18I can't get this challenge thing down. And suppose looking at me, he goes, you challenge
06:24Tolman. I got a question for you. My Gonzalo will spoil, use a challenge or not play Rozier first.
06:36He's playing those year less. I think we're getting there. And I feel bad because like
06:43it's there's bigger issues on this team. Then Terry Rozier it's not for lack of effort. Like
06:48I don't have a problem with, with his effort, with his, you know, how he goes about his business.
06:54He just hasn't been good. Ken just goes not less enough. He did a, he's like finger. He's like,
07:05and that's a man who's also lost his confidence. Cause like his finger roll, like he's nearly
07:09throwing it behind this dude. He can't even make layups now. Like what's going on with these?
07:15He's completely cooked. Cause that was kind of gotten that groove to where he get right by the
07:20rim and you start like bouncing it off the rim. I'm like, what are you doing, dude? You're right
07:24there. I don't know. I don't know. I mean, I will say this, the Davion Mitchell, I like him as a
07:30player, a terrible lob thrower, terrible lob thrower. He's throwing some, he's looking like
07:3614 Goran. Remember when Goran first got to the heat, like 14, 15, couldn't throw a lob to save
07:42his life. And I love you Gogi, but it was the facts. But here's, here's the deal though. And,
07:48and, and we know the combinations where that works. Don't you have to go back to that?
07:56When things get in a rut or whatever, right? Like you still like, you know, guys work well
08:03with Colelle, you know, guys work well with bam. If those two guys are cooking, you need to get
08:10their assistance in there. One of the reasons I'm sick, losing, losing Nico, Nico is probably one of
08:15your best lob throwers. Oh yeah. Well that's because he don't have to lob it that far. Cause
08:19he's six 10. Look at that. He literally looks 13 years old. I know. Right. And Ooh. So is it a
08:31finger or hand? I think it was, they kept going to the knuckles. Like, right. Well, okay. You know,
08:36you know why you can tell us a finger? Why in the business we call that buddy tape.
08:42What? Right. When your friend is broke, you tape his friend next to him for more support.
08:48I think it was a second metatarpal. I don't know. That's this one. No, wait, that's the,
08:57Ooh, that's the, the bird finger. Ooh, you can play with the bro. I'm trying to think,
09:04let me see you put the picture back up. Cause I always try to figure out which way you go from
09:08when they went to the, like, like when they go here. Well, so it's the, by the thumb. So it is,
09:16yeah, that's what, when they were touching, when they were touching them on the bench,
09:19like they were like touching like right here. And that's like when Mike, uh, he was like,
09:23the trainer was working on it here. And like, it was swelling up like badly.
09:27It seemed like middle finger. So, I don't know. So, Ooh, no more birds.
09:34Have a specialist look at it. We'll see. Let me tell you the thing that sucks about hands.
09:39People don't realize there's so many bones in there. So many different things going on in
09:45there that you gotta be careful with how you go about healing it. Right. So a lot of times,
09:52like, so for me with the hammock, there's so many little bones that if you break one,
09:57they just take it out. And that's what they do with it. It's called the hook of the hammock.
10:03When you break it, they just take it out.
10:06Take a break. Get your call up with your headlines back with more to this.

18:19Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Hollywood.
18:25I was having a lot of fun with that this weekend, but a lot of losses.
18:28Oh, I felt like, Oh, right there.
18:32I was right there, right there.
18:36I felt really strong about my UFC bet this weekend.
18:39Neither one came through.
18:42Very annoying.
18:43Did you bet with feeling?
18:46No, I didn't bet with feeling J Fig.
18:47I felt like I felt strong.
18:49I thought Brendan Allen, who was fighting in the co-main event submission guy.
18:53So I got him.
18:54I parlayed a submission with him and Song Yedong to win by knockout.
18:59Who?
19:00Song Yedong.
19:01And that's almost like Jansen junk right there.
19:04Song Yedong, dude, but neither of them hit.
19:08Brendan Allen ends up losing a decision.
19:10He had like two scrambles where he could have gotten the sub and Song Yedong ends up winning
19:16via technical decision.
19:18He poked Henry Cejudo in the eye and they ended up going to the scorecards.
19:24But at the time, you know, a boxing parlay also didn't hit.
19:30I bet on I was so stupid.
19:32I mean, they had this intangible step in and last minute to fight Shakur Stevenson.
19:37And I was like, Shakur Stevenson doesn't knock anybody out.
19:40All I need is intangible to hold on for one more round.
19:42And how quick did he get knocked out?
19:45No, he lasted up until the night, but his corner stopped the fight.
19:49Just let him go out there for one more round.
19:54Does your old lady know about your betting?
19:57By the extent of?
19:59No, I mean, I keep it.
20:00I keep it reasonable day and day.
20:02My money is my money.
20:03My phone.
20:04I keep it reasonable.
20:06You know, it sounds like it.
20:09I was still I was all I was doing was blowing my Tyler Hero three point contest winnings.
20:15I blew all of it.
20:16Good.
20:16That's how they get you.
20:19It's going to stick around.
20:20He has one plus 600 bet.
20:22We caught him for a month.
20:25But I can't quit it.
20:26I love it so much.
20:27It makes it fun.
20:28You can't win them all.
20:29I mean, because you chase you chase ridiculousness.
20:33Yeah, I think the smallest bet I had this weekend was plus 900.
20:42And that was why I asked if you bet was feeling because, you know,
20:45you always go for whoever you're a fan of, and then you start adding on getting greedy.
20:50Yep.
20:51Bet the Bob showed out.
20:52Bet the Bob showed out.
20:53That was gone in like a minute.
20:57It's going to be fresh, fresh off the fresh off the the break.
21:02He's going to be.
21:02He's going to be good to go.
21:05Anyway, I'll see what we we're going to bet on tonight.
21:08Headlines are brought to you by Doral Volkswagen.
21:09Doral Volkswagen.
21:10Choose for over 300 new Volkswagen models.
21:12It's time for the T on the toss and the Atlas.
21:13And remember, when it comes to Volkswagen, the great deals are at Doral Volkswagen.
21:19The heat will be back on the hardwoods tonight against the Atlanta Hawks.
21:23730 is your tip off.
21:25And of course, no, Nicola Jovich.
21:28He has flown back to Miami to have his hand looked at.
21:32That is, uh, you know, not great.
21:38I know it's not.
21:39It really isn't.
21:41Let's see.
21:41Oh, this team is snake bit.
21:44It's been a bad year.
21:45It's been a bad year.
21:47Also, as it felt great watching Jimmy Butler and the Warriors be so in love.
21:52Um, see, I'm not, I don't worry about that.
21:55You don't like, but here's why.
21:59It got to the point.
22:00That was never going to be never going to happen here.
22:05So there's that.
22:06The other thing is, is that.
22:10The role that Jimmy's feeling.
22:14Seems to fit him more because he can be that guy without really being that guy.
22:21He can, he can be that guy, but he's not him.
22:24He's not Jimmy.
22:25fit him more, because he can be that guy without really being that guy, right?
22:31He can go out and get to 25, 30, but you can't demand or say that he needs to get 25, 30
22:37every night, which means that he'll probably look a lot better in the role that he's in
22:45than when he was with the Heat, because guess what?
22:49In the last couple years or whatever, Jimmy Butler getting 18 points and having 10 free
22:59throw attempts and five rebounds and three steals, okay?
23:06That's got you right at the plan.
23:10And so if you're going to be a number one and go look at all the other teams, if you're
23:18going to be a number one, I got to get my 25, 30 from you, and then everybody else eats,
23:24and then we figure that out.
23:27Whereas Jimmy was never that guy.
23:29It doesn't mean he's not great.
23:31It just means that your team is not going to be able to compete with all the other teams
23:42if you're relying on Jimmy Butler to score all the time.
23:46Not that he can't, but if you're relying on 25, 30 from Jimmy on a nightly basis, then
23:53your team is not going to compete.
23:55It kind of speaks to us, but here's the thing though, that kind of speaks to if frustration
24:01from him and why you didn't push all the way to go get Damian Lillard, because what are
24:06you doing right now with Steph Curry is exactly what he wanted with Damian Lillard.
24:11And so here's the deal.
24:13Here's the deal.
24:14And here's what I would say to that.
24:17You want all the perks of being the number one, but you want us to bring a number one
24:22in so you could be a number two.
24:24Here's the thing though.
24:25Like what star doesn't want help?
24:27Like every star wants that.
24:29Like you can't act like he's not, here's what I say to that is he's already proven himself
24:34to be a monster needle mover in winning.
24:37Like a guy saying, when you get to a certain point, Hey, this is capped at a certain point.
24:44We need to bring in more.
24:45And mind you, that's coming off of back-to-back playoff runs where Tyler hero got hurt.
24:49Yeah.
24:50And is that being at the age that he's at?
24:52Like why is that a bad thing to feel of as a player where you have done all you can do
24:58and you do need a little bit more of a ready now guy to help you win?
25:01I'm not, I'm not, I'm not saying that at all.
25:04I'm not saying that, that he tried to get him help.
25:09The arrogance killed them to a certain extent, right?
25:12Like when you say, Oh, he will come here.
25:13I'm not negotiating.
25:15And then he ends up in Milwaukee, two more wins than Joe Cronin this year, by the way.
25:21Right.
25:22So my, my question is, and, and, and I just look at the way everybody else's number one's
25:32playing the league, right.
25:35And I'll ask you this.
25:37Can you win a championship with Jimmy Butler as your number one?
25:41Um, yeah, because keep in mind, if he's your number one, whoever you bring in will assist
25:47him.
25:48Whereas if you bring in a star, as in a Damian Lillard, Damian Lillard would be your number
25:55one and Jimmy would be a, you say number one, just purely in the, in points per game.
26:00Like it ignores the other things to the table.
26:02Like he's going out there and he's going to bring force from free throws, made defense
26:07play-making like look at the way all like Leroy, look at all of the guys who are playing
26:12better already in golden state with him by him.
26:14Look at pajama pajama ski season was in the toilet.
26:16And now all of a sudden he's playing with Jimmy Butler and he's going through the roof
26:20dream on green the same way.
26:21So like, well, I understand what you're saying in from a, from a, could he ever be your number
26:26one score?
26:27Yeah, maybe not.
26:28But to say like, it's you're saying it, maybe it's a one, two, like it's one, a one B, you
26:34know?
26:35Like you think he's.
26:38You think Jimmy's one B on that team?
26:40I mean, look at what the way Steph Curry, like Steph Curry's salivating over it the
26:44entire time that anybody, all attention now can't be on Steph Curry.
26:49Right.
26:50But that, that still doesn't make you a number one.
26:52I'm saying here, we we've seen this before.
26:54No dude.
26:56It is because, because guess what?
27:00The Warriors can win without Jimmy.
27:01Jimmy can't win without the Warriors.
27:02We're winning without Jimmy though, Leroy.
27:04But they weren't.
27:05They, they've.
27:06Okay.
27:07We were there under 500 without him.
27:10No.
27:11Okay.
27:12Recently.
27:13Right.
27:14They got three championships under the boat with Kevin Durant.
27:16Yeah.
27:17Okay.
27:18Congratulations with Kevin Durant and play Thompson being at the peak of his powers.
27:22But, but I'm saying if I, if I give, if I bring the, what, what I'm saying to you is
27:28this, whoever the heat would have brought in, right?
27:34That guy would have become the primary score and Jimmy would have been a second or third
27:40option to enable him to do all those other things freely.
27:44Yeah.
27:45Right.
27:46So I'm demanding, if you're trying to make that guy, your number one, then it's a little
27:54more difficult.
27:56I'm not saying Jimmy's not great.
27:58You're you're miss.
27:59I think you're misunderstanding what I'm saying.
28:02Can a player who does what Jimmy does and not just be a guy that you can depend on 25,
28:0830 a night.
28:09Can a guy who touches the stat sheet?
28:14Can he be the catalyst behind you winning a championship without a bona fide score?
28:20Yeah.
28:21I mean, like they got, they got pretty, they got pretty damn close with him being that.
28:26Okay.
28:27I did.
28:28Okay.
28:29You got close.
28:30That was lightning in a bottle twice.
28:31That wasn't the norm then.
28:33No.
28:34Yes.
28:35Yes.
28:36Shot away to being three times getting to the finals.
28:38Okay.
28:39But getting to the finals and winning are two different things.
28:42Okay.
28:43So you're satisfied with just Jimmy getting, getting there, but dude, you're, you're, but
28:48it's like, you're ignoring the idea of like, Hey, they had, hold on their number, their
28:52number one score in terms of points per game.
28:55In one of the times they got to the finals, had a broken hand and wasn't there.
28:59Yeah.
29:00The other time their leading scorer in the playoffs was Goran.
29:03He is like, you know, like what?
29:07So how is that on Jimmy?
29:09I don't understand like why that's an indictment on Jimmy.
29:11It's not, it's not, it's not on an indictment on what Jimmy does.
29:16Okay.
29:18But I'm asking you, can a guy that plays the way Jimmy lead your team to a championship
29:27or does he need that bona fide score to assist him?
29:32And that makes what he does that much more than everybody does.
29:35Like I'm trying to like, give me the guy, give me the guy in the league right now who
29:40doesn't need that.
29:41Like Steph Curry can't do that without doing all the other stuff either.
29:44He can't do it on his own.
29:46I understand that.
29:47But the starting point is the 25, 30 point score.
29:50Yeah.
29:51But the starting point this year had them under 500.
29:53Like this has completely flipped their season.
29:55So like, I don't know where you're putting him in the pecking order of importance with
29:58the words.
29:59Like obviously Steph Curry is the guy he's alleged.
30:02I said he's a number two in that role.
30:05Like they're shot without Jimmy Butler is cooked.
30:09See, you're not, I'm not saying that Jimmy doesn't make a big difference to what Golden
30:22State is doing.
30:25But what I'm saying is this, if Jimmy were on the heat right now and the heat winning
30:37got Steph Curry, the most important guy would have become Steph Curry because he's a scorer.
30:47Jimmy's a great basketball player, but in today's basketball, every team that is competing
30:58for a championship has those one or two guys that can light up the scoreboard.
31:05Which he does in the playoffs though.
31:08He does.
31:09Okay.
31:10Okay.
31:11Okay.
31:12If you own a team, you're not waiting around for that dude.
31:18Well now we're sitting here and watching him squander everything.
31:22So you know, I mean, I don't see, I don't, I don't have a problem with Jimmy being on
31:27Golden State because you weren't, you weren't going to get that Jimmy.
31:32Yeah.
31:33I know they weren't.
31:34I know they weren't.
31:35Like, so yeah.
31:36So to say, Oh, I'm watching Jimmy and I'm watching how well he's playing in, in, in
31:41well, I don't think anybody should be surprised with how well he's playing.
31:44You know, like, and, and look, maybe, maybe this is the last one he's got in him and they
31:49get burned in two years.
31:51But you know, for right now it's, it absolutely looks like it's, it's, it's turned their season
31:56completely around for now, for now.
32:01Yeah.
32:03It's undeniable how good it's looked.
32:06Yeah.
32:07I mean, I like, I just like, I don't know, it's like, I like, I'm looking at all the
32:14teams having success and they have that one star that's just lighten up scoreboard and
32:19they do other things to SGA does other things, right?
32:24You look at, you know, other teams that have those stars, they have one or two guys that
32:29can light up a scoreboard.
32:30They also play defense and do other things also, not as good as Jimmy.
32:35Let me say that they don't play defense or steals or rebound as well as Jimmy.
32:41But the fact of the matter is, is that a lot of times the heat struggle because they can't
32:47score.
32:48I don't care about defense anymore, right?
32:52Defense ain't got nothing to do with eight points in the damn quarter in the NBA.
