00:00The Department of Agriculture will lower the price of rice by the start of the month of March.

00:05How much? Let's find out in the report of Vell Custodio.

00:11The maximum suggested retail price of 5% broken imported rice from tomorrow will be lowered to P49.00.

00:18The Department of Agriculture has decided to implement the P49.00 MSRP in the surrounding provinces

00:25because the price of rice in some provinces will be lower than the MSRP set.

00:31According to the PSA data, most of the high prices of rice are in Metro Manila,

00:38in the key urban areas and the key cities, our urban centers.

00:44Aside from Metro Manila,

00:45some of the regions that have high prices of rice are Calabar Zone,

00:50Metro Cebu, Metro Davao, Cagayan de Oro, and Zamboanga.

00:55According to the DA, aside from lowering the trend of the price of rice,

00:59the nationwide implementation of MSRP is also controlling the lowering of the price of rice in the market.

01:05We started at P58.00 and then we proceeded with P55.00.

01:11When we reached P52.00, that's when we started nationwide.

01:14This coming March 1, we'll use P49.00 in selected areas.

01:23The DA is also speeding up the release of the National Food Authority Rice

01:28because of the declaration of the National Food Security Emergency on rice.

01:32This is so that the NFA can buy new rice.

01:36Fresh rice will be sold for P17.00 to P23.00,

01:39while dried rice will be sold for P23.00 to P30.00.

01:43Meanwhile, all pork industry players are in agreement with the intention of lowering the price of pork.

01:50It's important for all stakeholders and industry players to consult the HAG industry

01:59to make sure that whatever we release for MSRP

02:04is in accordance with the results of this type of consultation.

02:08What we agreed on before is that if we can lower the price of pork

02:17without going through the MSRP or the suggested retail price at the farm gate,

02:24perhaps we don't need to do that.

02:29If we can lower the price of pork through consultation and coordination.

02:33The DA has already consulted the pork producers

02:36and will now consult the pork importers.
