00:00Hi, I'm Laura Reid, the Deputy Features Editor at the Yorkshire Post, and here's a look at
00:04what's coming up in the week ahead.
00:07When a 13-year-old is accused of the murder of a classmate, his family therapist and the
00:12detective in charge are all left asking, what really happened? That's the premise of the
00:17new Netflix drama Adolescence, starring Stephen Graham, Ashley Walters and Erin Docherty.
00:22Graham told Netflix that one of their aims was to ask, what is happening to our young
00:26men these days and what are the pressures they face from their peers, from the internet
00:30and from social media?
00:32Each episode of the four-part series, which lands on March 13th, is filmed in one continuous
00:38shot and filming took place across Yorkshire at locations including South Emsall, South
00:43Kirby and Sheffield. The drama was created by Sheffield's Watt Films and used Production
00:49Park in Wakefield as its production base.
00:54There's a couple of exhibitions opening this week in the region. One is beginning on Thursday
00:59in Bradford and will be the opening event of the new venue there called Loading Bay.
01:06An old storage depot in the city has been transformed into Loading Bay, which is going
01:11to be a cultural hub for Bradford in the 2025 City of Culture Year and going to be playing
01:16host to a range of exhibitions, gigs and theatre shows.
01:21From March 13th until April 6th, there's going to be an exhibition of art from the
01:26BBC show Extraordinary Portraits. That programme is hosted by comedian and art lover Bill Bailey
01:33and it sees artists create portraits of people who've got personal and powerful stories.
01:40And then over in Wakefield, there's another new event space, Wakefield Exchange, that's
01:45recently opened and that's hosting an exhibition to celebrate the culture, heritage and community
01:51of the district. It is looking back on our year 2024, which saw more than 350,000 people
02:01attend events and activities across Wakefield District. The exhibition is called This Was
02:08Our Year Exhibition and it runs from March 14th to the 23rd.
02:15And finally in education, the Association of School and College Leaders is hosting its
02:21annual conference on March the 14th and 15th in Liverpool. Education Secretary Bridget
02:27Phillipson and Ofsted's Chief Inspector are among those due to give speeches at the event,
02:33which is described as a learning opportunity for senior and aspiring leaders. There's a
02:38chance to hear from policy makers and educationalists, as well as taking part in workshops on topics
02:44such as business leadership, primary schooling and post-16 education.
