00:00And any Mavs fans out there, we apologize.
00:02You have seen this in the last 24 hours.
00:04One gut punch after another.
00:07The largest was the Luka Doncic steal.
00:09And to Fonseca's point, any reasoning or explanation
00:13has really fallen on deaf ears.
00:15Anthony Davis looks dominant in his Dallas debut
00:18in the adductor strain.
00:19He is out for at least a month,
00:21and indefinitely still at this moment.
00:24Earlier this week, the Mavs, as a ownership group,
00:28made the boneheaded decision to publicize
00:30they were increasing season ticket prices.
00:32And then on the same day, Kyrie Irving,
00:35in a game at home against Sacramento, tears his ACL.
00:39Fonseca, is there any redeeming thing at all
00:42you could say to the Mavericks fan base right now?
00:45Or, if there was a team the Mavs
00:47should be rooting for down the stretch,
00:49because they don't want to root for their own organization,
00:51who should that be?
00:54The redeeming thing is you have your own draft pick.
00:57And that's literally probably it.
00:59Like, if this just goes into a tailspin,
01:02that's fine, I guess.
01:04Like, maybe you'll get a lottery pick
01:06in a draft that's supposed to be really good.
01:08Ben, you're probably more qualified to say that than I am.
01:11But, I mean, these rookies,
01:13the potential rookies coming through,
01:15and Vijay Edgecombe is probably my favorite prospect
01:19in the draft. Not that I think he's going to be
01:20the best player coming out of the draft,
01:21but he's been my favorite to watch,
01:24even when he was playing for the Bahamian National Team
01:26at Olympic qualifiers last year.
01:28I think he's going to be sensational.
01:30Now, as far as the other stuff, I mean,
01:34I don't know if you want to root for the Lakers,
01:36if you're anybody who's not already a Laker fan,
01:38because they're just one of those franchises.
01:40Like, as somebody who's a Mets fan,
01:42I can't think of any instance
01:45where I'd want to root for the Yankees to win anything.
01:47You know what I mean?
01:48Like, I just don't see how you could want to root
01:51for the Cowboys or whatever.
01:54And as somebody who doesn't really root for billionaires
01:58and giant corporations in general,
02:00I probably can't bring myself to say,
02:02hey, Dallas, go root for the Lakers,
02:04who have been the most successful franchise
02:06in NBA history.
02:07You can root for Luka Doncic's individual success.
02:10But I think if you're a Mavs fan,
02:13like, maybe just stop being a Mavs fan
02:16until they get it together.
02:17Like, you don't have to put yourself through this.
02:19As somebody who gave up his love for the New York Jets
02:22at one point and hasn't turned back at all.
02:24And I've clearly won that battle
02:26because it's been 10 years of football bliss for me.
02:30I just play fantasy and occasionally bet
02:32and keep it moving.
02:33But I used to love New York Jets football
02:36for whatever reason.
02:37And then they beat it out of me over the course of 22 years.
02:41And since 2016, I've been sober.
02:44So Dallas Mavericks fans,
02:45I don't think you need to put yourself through the same thing.
02:47I think you can sober up.
02:49And if you don't want to root for this organization,
02:51don't.
