00:00House lawmakers urge voters participating in May's midterm polls to be very careful
00:04and selective in their choices of candidates and to consider their experience, track record,
00:09and character above all. Likewise, a party-less legislator reminded migrant workers abroad
00:15not to miss or shirk their opportunity in voicing their choices that would eventually
00:20shape or break the nation's future. Our Mela Las Moras fills us in with more.
00:24Ten and a half weeks before Hatol ng Bayan 2025, a number of lawmakers reminded the public to be
00:32more discerning on pre-election surveys. According to House Assistant Majority Leader Jude Asitre,
00:38it would be better for voters to personally assess the qualities of the candidates rather
00:43than solely relying on surveys and trending poll results. In a statement, House Committee on Metro
00:48Manila Development Chair Rolando Valeriano criticized a recently released survey, claiming
00:53it was fake. Meanwhile, House Assistant Majority Leader Pami Zamora asserted surveys can sometimes
00:59be helpful as long as they are science-based and go through the proper process. The Commission
01:04on Elections had previously issued a resolution on this matter.
01:23For now, more voter turnout is expected as internet voting will also be implemented
01:52in certain parts of the world for overseas Filipino workers.
01:56OFW Partylist Representative Marisa Del Mar Magsino urged migrant workers to make the most
02:01out of this opportunity, emphasizing that the future of Filipinos is at stake.
02:06Congressman Asitre, who also chairs the House Committee on Overseas Workers Affairs, echoed this.
02:23Aside from this, House Deputy Minority Leader Bernadette Herrera also reminded government
02:35workers and other professionals who will not be able to vote on May 12 to register for local
02:40absentee voting before the deadline on Friday. This will allow them to cast their votes early
02:46from April 28 to April 30.
