00:00President Ferdinand R. Marquez, Jr. hosted the 2024 National Nutrition Awarding Ceremony.

00:06Here, some LGUs who became effective in improving the nutrition of their citizens were recognized.

00:13Bernard Ferreira is in the center of the news.

00:17In the leadership of the National Nutrition Council,

00:20the 23 local governments and 5 local nutrition focal points were recognized

00:26for their outstanding contribution in improving the nutrition of their citizens.

00:31According to President Ferdinand R. Marquez, Jr.,

00:34malnutrition should not have a negative effect on the future of the youth and the country's economy.

00:40Malnutrition exists at alarming levels across different stages of life throughout our country.

00:46And this has multifarious effects.

00:49It has brought deleterious effects on the cognitive development and the future of our children.

00:55It has contributed to our children falling behind in their education.

01:00The government launched various programs to fight hunger and malnutrition.

01:05Some of these are the Food Stamp Program under Walang Gutom 2027,

01:10where families in need can receive a Php 3,000 food credit every month.

01:17The Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program of War Peace,

01:20where families in need can receive a Php 350 food credit every month.

01:28There are also feeding programs in schools,

01:30such as the Department of Health, Department of Agriculture,

01:33and Department of Social Welfare and Development.

01:36The local government encouraged the mayors and governors

01:40to raise enough funds for programs for health and nutrition in their annual investment plan.

01:47I have directed the DILG to ensure that health care and nutrition are included

01:52as a priority indicator in our seal of good local governance.

01:57We are looking again at the criteria that is being examined when granting the seal of local government.

02:20Health care in terms of nutrition, health care in terms of vaccination,

02:24in terms of access to health services.

02:29These are the things that are very, very important.

02:32The President reiterated that the well-being of the people is not only related to proper food,

02:37but also to a clean environment, a proper community, and a disciplined way of life.
