00:00Hello, my name's Adam Corner. I'm a Chief Inspector in the Police Service of Northern
00:04Ireland and I'm based in South area which takes in the geographical area of
00:09this section of the line between Armagh and County Louth. I'm proud to be involved in
00:14today's JATF operation with colleagues from An Garda Siocona and utilising a
00:19number of PS&I resources in order to control the strategic road network and
00:24deny criminals the use of the road. Criminals who look to exploit our border
00:28region and border communities and it's through working with An Garda Siocona
00:33and sharing information that we will relentlessly pursue those who look to
00:37cause misery and those who look to commit crime in the border area.
00:40I'm Sergeant Declan Higgins with the Lowndes Road Policing Unit. We're tasked here as
00:44well to deny the criminals the use of the road networks here in the south of
00:49Ireland and again with our assistance of our colleagues up in the Northern
00:52Ireland the PS&I we work closely together in that task. We're taking a
00:58snapshot of traffic that's passing across the border today over a period of
01:02a number of hours and already we've come across a whole varying range from drug
01:08driving to drugs to no insurance etc. So really what we're trying to get is put a
01:15presence out there just to show that we are working together you know to help
01:18the community in the border area. Yeah so when we plan these joint operations
01:23we look to set the same strategic priorities so we look to work together
01:28share information share that type of intelligence that will reassure the
01:32border community and hopefully allow criminals to see that if they come to
01:36the border area we will be jointly taking action against them.
