00:00Manchester United showed signs of promise as they drew 1-1 in Arsenal in the Premier League at Old Trafford.
00:07Bruno Fernandes netted a tremendous free-kick on the stroke of half-time to give his side an unexpected lead going into the break.
00:14Declan Rice levelled the scores with a tremendous strike of his own from the edge of the box as the spoils were shared at Old Trafford.
00:21The game was soundtracked by more protest towards the Glazer family and Jim Ratcliffe.
00:27There was one Glazer in attendance today at Old Trafford along with the United co-owner.
00:32There was around 5,000 fans who took part in a pre-match protest as they marched from the Torgate pub to Old Trafford ahead of kick-off.
00:42As soon as the game started there were many renditions of Stand Up If You Hate Glazers and other less savoury chants towards the United ownership.
00:52But in the end it was events on the pitch that set the stage.
00:56Arsenal were by far the better team, they wasted some good opportunities to score and they were punished.
01:01Bruno Fernandes, so often the United talisman, the catalyst, he was again.
01:06United wasted some chances late on in the game but they hadn't really created anything in the first half.
01:12Bruno's free-kick scored controversially in front of the Stretford M because Arsenal's wall was 11.2 yards away rather than being 10 yards away.
01:20I'm sure Meco Arteta would be very calm and composed and logical about that.
01:26But United led and fair play to them, they showed some good attributes today.
01:31Joshua Zirksy, clearly not a striker, he was starting instead of Rasmus Hoyland.
01:35He worked hard, he tried his best but he just didn't offer that focal threat in the front line.
01:40Andre Nonnum hit some OK saves, his distribution didn't seem to be a real issue.
01:45And United could have got a second.
01:48After the break there was a fantastic chance when Nuzar Mazraoui saw a shot save from close range.
01:55Joshua Zirksy also flicked the ball at goal, David Rea made two good saves to keep it at 1-0.
02:00And Arsenal got their goal, Declan Rice scored a good effort at the Stretford end.
02:04Couldn't really have any complaints about that.
02:06But it was United who came very close to winning it right at the def.
02:09Substitute Hoyland intercepted the ball on the edge of the box.
02:12He took an awful heavy touch, took too much time on the ball and then was out-muscled.
02:17Bullied off it by Declan Rice at Arsenal.
02:19Would escape with the point.
02:22The other drama came in, stoppage time, injury time.
02:26Last minute, last real meaningful moment of the game.
02:29Bruno Fernandes had an effort cleared off the line dramatically by David Rea to ensure that the score was level.
02:36And like I said, United could have won. I think they'll take a lot of positives from this performance.
02:41But ultimately, it doesn't really matter. United will finish on the bottom half.
02:45They will have their worst ever Premier League finish this season.
02:48What matters is, can they win the Europa League? Can they get back into the Champions League?
02:52That would be huge for them financially, huge for them to attract new players.
02:55And huge for Ruben Amering to address his concerns about his management and his future at the club really.
03:01Not in doubt at the moment, but he needs to get some stock in the bank for those doubters to lay off for a bit.
03:10I thought Aidan Heaven was really good as well. He came on at halftime for Lenny Yoro.
03:13He has an injury scare ahead of that Saucy Dad second leg.
03:16But Aidan Heaven proved he's got the abilities to be a first team player here at Manchester United.
03:21Not only was he physical as you have to be in the Premier League, but he was really composed, really mature on the ball.
03:27And he is another positive for United at a time when there haven't been that many.
03:31But once again, it was the Bruno Fernandes show. United would be a hell of a lot worse off without him.
03:35Maybe they would be in an actual relegation battle.
03:38They wouldn't get relegated this season. They will finish in the bottom half.
03:41Will they be in the Champions League though? Stay tuned.
03:45Because Manchester will build up to that Saucy Dad game later in the week.
03:49Full time from Old Trafford, Manchester United 1, Arsenal.
