Speaker Johnson speaks to reporters after the CR passes.

00:00They will suggest that this bill is something that it's not, and they will run out the clock
00:06to shut down the government in a desperate attempt to stop the America First agenda.
00:10But I will tell you that President Trump and Republicans in Congress will stop at nothing
00:15to deliver on that agenda.
00:16We are going to continue to work hard, we will continue to stick together and get this
00:20job done, and it's an essential one.
00:22Now that the government funding bill has been passed out of the House, we send it to the
00:26Senate, and it falls on the desk of Chuck Schumer.
00:29He is the leader of the Democrats on that side, and he must determine whether he wants
00:33to fund the government, do the responsible thing, or whether he wants to shut the government
00:37down.
00:38And I certainly hope that there are enough Democrats in the Senate who have a conscience
00:42who will do the right thing by the American people and take care of business over there.
00:45So any questions?
00:46Anybody?
00:47Do you expect him to shut down?
00:49I certainly hope not.
00:50I believe they'll do it.
00:51I believe the Republicans will stick together in the Senate, as we have in the House, and
00:54I hope there are at least a number of Democrats in the Senate who will do the right thing.
00:58If not, this will be on their shoulders, and everybody in America knows that.
01:01Mr. Speaker, on the other legislative undertaking, reconciliation, some senators yesterday suggested
01:06that they can get the ball rolling by sometime like August, which is far beyond your time.
01:10August is far too late.
01:11No, we're going to move that ball a lot faster than that, and we'll be talking with our colleagues
01:16and friends, Republican leadership in the Senate, about this.
01:20They will be working the rest of this week, and then I think both chambers are doing district
01:25work next week.
01:27When we get back, this will begin in earnest, and we'll have leaders and lieutenants, committee
01:32chairs of jurisdiction in both chambers working together to begin that process to finish up
01:37the resolution and move forward with budget reconciliation.
01:41That's going to be a very important thing for the country.
01:43A rescissions package?
01:44A lot of folks have spoken about that, in part with this continuing resolution.
01:47What's the status of that?
01:48We anticipate that we will get a rescissions package from the White House as soon as all
01:51the calculations are made.
01:53The reason we took this step now is to allow for that process to continue to play out.
01:59The DOJ efforts and the other things that are happening in the administration are very
02:02important for the American people, because ultimately what we're going to be able to
02:05do is downsize the size and scope of the federal government, make it work more efficiently
02:10and effectively for the people, and identify these extraordinary areas of fraud, waste,
02:15and abuse and eliminate that.
02:17A rescission request from the White House would come over appropriately in the right
02:21timing when they have the calculations done, and Congress will do its job there.
02:25We are going to deliver for the American people.
02:26So what?
02:27Thank you, guys.
02:28Do you know about rescissions package?
02:29We're not sure yet.
02:30They're working on the calculations, which is the reason we could not include it today.
02:34But we do anticipate that.
02:35We're going to work hand-in-hand with the White House, and I want to compliment President
02:38Trump on his ability to be so involved that he's watching this step by step.
02:44He is determined to deliver for the people, and we are as well.
02:47So this is a well-coordinated effort between the White House and our Senate Republican
02:51colleagues and House Republicans, and we'll continue to work in that partnership to get
02:55this agenda done.
