With property unaffordable in London, how realistic is it to move out, or buy a home in London?
Transcript
00:00There isn't a limit. I mean, in other countries in Southern Europe, they have much higher
00:06rates of people living at home. But still, it's about people can live at home. But if
00:11it's a choice, that's one thing. But at the moment, it's not a choice. People are doing
00:14it out of desperation.
00:16It's impossible to buy in London. My girlfriend and I would love to move in together. But
00:24it's not possible. I'm a creative. I need to be in town a lot. I teach a lot in town,
00:29which means I need to be living in the closer zones. Because if I'm only on one tube line,
00:36then I'm stuffed if the train lines are down. So I need to be living really central. But
00:42then you're looking at houses which cost like half a million.
00:48Ultimately, it's about housing supply. There's too many people who need housing, and there
00:54isn't enough new housing being built. And the housing that is being built isn't necessarily
00:58the right type of housing.
