00:00A former aide of Seputu MP Teresa Kok, who was remanded by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption

00:07Commission, has denied allegations that he had solicited and accepted a RM500,000 bribe.

00:13In a statement, Edmund Teo confirmed he was released by the MACC on Sunday and said that

00:18no charges had been filed against him.

00:21He said the claims were baseless, politically motivated, and devoid of truth.

00:26Teo also said that to uphold DAP's reputation, he had decided to withdraw from the party's

00:31Central Executive Committee election this Sunday.

00:34Teo, who was Kuala Lumpur DAP Publicity Secretary, said he had also resigned from any positions

00:40he holds in the party.

00:42Teo, along with another of Kok's former officers, Ng Yud Kwin, were earlier summoned

00:47by the Anti-Corruption Agency to provide their statements.

00:50An MACC source had previously said the alleged RM500,000 bribe was for helping approve an

00:56application for RM1.5 million in funding for the supply of interactive smartboards

01:01to several schools in Kuala Lumpur.
