00:00So, this is the latest sentencing in an incident of serious violence involving children, which
00:07I think many will agree has become all too familiar, not just in London but across the
00:14country. 18-year-old Hassan Sentamu was sentenced to life imprisonment here at the Old Bailey
00:24on Thursday for stabbing 15-year-old Eliane Andam to death over a teddy bear. Just to
00:33talk a bit about the scene in court during that sentencing, we have heard as Hassan was
00:40sent down there were angry shouts from the public gallery which rejected his earlier
00:48apology saying reportedly, quote-unquote, you deserve to be spat on. Sentamu is said
00:56to have sat with his head in his hands in the dock and wiped away tears as he was sentenced.
01:04Very moving but upsetting statements were read in the court by the family of the victim.
01:12The mother of Eliane said you did not only kill Eliane, you killed me mentally and emotionally.
01:21Your actions were senseless and evil. You have devastated the lives of those who knew
01:27and loved Eliane Andam, a bright, kind and loyal 15-year-old on her way to school with
01:35her friends. The responsibility for Eliane's death will be with you for the rest of your
01:42days.
